Subject: Lyr Req: Such is the Garden /C. Crossen
From: Janie

I am looking for the lyrics to "Such is the Garden", written by Cynthia R. Crossen. It was recorded on an album she did with a group called "Pomegranate Rose." It is out of print and I have not been able to find a used copy on the web.

The refrain goes

Such is the garden
Such the devotion
such is the fountain of love in my heart (life?)

Thanks,

Janie

Yeh Sorcha, me too. Did you check out the Community Music website that is apparently distributing her later music? Interesting concept. They are here in my neck of the woods (if they are still going.)

The album this song is on is one of many, that were recorded on cassette that over time are just no longer playable.

I really like her songwriting.

I did that, but haven't had a response. At least not yet.

I finally found an e-mail address for Cynthia Crossen and just e-mailed her directly. Hope she is willing to send me the lyrics. I really want to share this song at the Getaway.

Subject: Lyr Add: What You Give Me/ L. Lindgren

A few weeks ago I posted a request for a song called "Such Is the Garden" by C. Crossen. I was a little confused. Cynthia was part of the group Pomegranate Rose with Laura Lindgren, and the name of the tape was "Such Is the Garden", taken from this song. "What You Give Me" is the song title and Laura wrote it. Both Cynthia and Laura were kind enough to respond to e-mails from me and gave me both the lyrics and the correct information. If anyone who was present at Jacqui and Kendall's wedding reception is interested, this is the song I sang.

WHAT YOU GIVE ME
(copyright 1988/ Laura G. Lindgren)

To Walk in your forest, To graze in your pastures, To fly in your
   starry black night

(refrain)
Such is the garden, Such the devotion
Such is the fountain of love in my heart

To flow in your river, To gaze at your colours, To sway in your
    treetops so high

refrain

1st bridge
What you give me is a doorway to God, let us bathe in the Now
Never grasping at the days ahead
Just a patience of the heart in the pastures of truth
And love, trembling love.

To let out your kite string, to feel your dark ocean, to play in the
    breakers at dawn

refrain

To shatter on your hard floor, to dance in your cobwebs, to sing the
    song of our death

refrain

2nd bridge
You are teaching me songs that I never dreamed of.
Opening worlds that I never hoped for
I'm breathing my breath, I'm dying my death
Sing that the world doesn't end.

To read your sad story, to bask in your glory, to sit in the presence
    of God

refrain

To know beyond knowing in the patience of being
beyond thought, beyond wanting to know

refrain
