I've just joined Mudcat. For those who don't know me (and even those who do), I'm a singer in the UK. (http://www.cmarge.demon.co.uk/gwilym/index.htm) Through Mudcat I'd like to:

- keep in touch with folky friends in the UK and USA
- make some new ones
- when possible, add to the discussions on various songs
- pick people's brains about songs

Let me start by saying that I am looking for a decent C/F melodeon in the UK so that I can bid farewell to my nice but loud Hohner Erica. Does anyone have a good quality C/F lying around that they are not using?

Hi Gwilym - you sound like another member of the 'Cat's Welsh contingent - are you based in the principality?

Sorry I can't help with the melodeon - I'm a concertina man meself. (I thought all melodeons were loud?)

I've got a Welsh name and a Hampshire accent - don't ask, just blame the parents! So I'm only half Welsh (waist downwards). I was brought up in Portsmouth but have lived in Gloucestershire for over 30 years.

My mate Ken is also half Welsh (from the waist down) - it means he dances like a Welshman and sings like an Englishman - bit of a bad deal really.

hey! hello, Gwilym...good to see you here. You'll fit right into this silly lot. *grin*....

(some of us in the Wash DC area have known Gwilym for several years and sung with him when he was here on buisness trips. He knows lots of neat songs, and had learned a lot about American trad music...(and some banjo, too)

Hi right back, Gwilym, am Dee-Lighted that you've wandered into the Mudcat Cafe. Just read some of the stories on your web site, enjoyed them very much.

I met Phyllis Marks this summer at the WV Folk Festival. Her voice is shaky now but still clear and beautiful. It was her 50th year of singing at that festival. She sang a great variant of Eggs & Marrowbone but said it has never been recorded. Don't suppose you managed to record it?
