Subject: Cropredy & Sidmouth From: GUEST,Cropredy & Sidmouth Fan Date: 07 Nov 04 - 04:19 PM I see there are numerous arguments raging over the future of the Sidmouth Festival with far too much petty political point-scoring and mud-slinging from many of those involved. So this is a happy thread to say how wonderful it is that the Cropredy Festival will be staged as usual in August 2005 having originally been threatened with closure following the sad departure of the Festival organiser. Those planning on giving Sidmouth a miss in 2005 should come to Cropredy. All will be welcome and you won't find any of the angst affecting Sidmouth. All you will find are 20,000 happy folkies revelling in the special Fairport family atmosphere. |
Subject: RE: Cropredy & Sidmouth From: VIN Date: 08 Nov 04 - 07:50 AM Great news about a great festival. Hope Sidmouth survives too, tho i've never bin, but there's always a first time. |
Subject: RE: Cropredy & Sidmouth From: greg stephens Date: 08 Nov 04 - 08:07 AM GUEST: Cropredy and Sidmouth fan: you are entirely right to draw attention to the pathhetc mudslinging surrounding Sidmouth 2005. It is very sad, and I am delighted to hear the Cropredy people are quite different. But you really want to watch out for the obvious dangers of posting as a GUEST: there is someone using exactly your name (GUEST Cropredy and Sidmouth fan) stirring up trouble and whining on the Sdmouth thread, trying to get people to boycott the festival. Post under your own member's name, and then nobody will be able to impersonate you in this offensive and confusing way. |

Subject: RE: Cropredy & Sidmouth From: GUEST,Roger Hayes Date: 08 Nov 04 - 12:41 PM Very good news about Cropredy. It's always been one of my favourite festivals. I've also just heard that both the Lancaster Maritime Festival and the Gosport & Fareham Easter Festival in Hampshire, both of which had been threatened with closure, are going ahead as normal in 2005. Meanwhile the people behind the Stroud Festival are rumoured to have some exciting plans for 2005. And Steve Heap appears to have got involved with the Beverley Festival and has thereby given that Festival a boost. There may still be problems and difficulties in Sidmouth but the scene elsewhere is looking very healthy right now. |
Subject: RE: Cropredy & Sidmouth From: GUEST,Lizzie in Sidmouth! Date: 09 Nov 04 - 12:49 PM Well Roger! Dear Roger! If all the other Festivals are doing so well and you really think that Sidmouth is in SUCH trouble, why not get off your 'Allegedly Folkie Bottom' and come and support Sidmouth! Just like all the other brilliant people are doing, who REALLY do care about Sidmouth. TRULY! MADLY! DEEPLY! Or are you too busy playing your Computer Games? Honestly, you Boysies just NEVER grow up do you? :-) And to think I was going to dance down on the Seafront with you too!! Mind you, with all these other Festivals you're going to be attending, it sounds as if you've maybe got quite a bit of the old money behind you.......Hmmmmmm.....Well....Maybe I SHOULD relent about that dancing after all Roger Dear Roger! After all A Girlie does have to look after herself these days! Right then, Ist week of August, outside The Bedford Hotel Roger! What do you say? :-) Lizzie |
Subject: RE: Cropredy & Sidmouth From: GUEST,Roger Hayes Date: 09 Nov 04 - 05:04 PM Lizzie. Darling Lizzie. I'll dance with you just about anywhere but I just don't think I'm going to risk Sidmouth next year. Besides, when I'm outside The Bedford it's normally 'after hours' and I'm trying to persuade the landlord to let me join the session in the bar! Perhaps we can trip the light fantastic at Cropredy instead? It may not have a seafront and sand like Sidmouth but it does have cow-pats-a-plenty plus some lovely grassy fields that we can skip through hand-in-hand. Waddya say gal? |
Subject: RE: Cropredy & Sidmouth From: Lizzie in Sidmouth Date: 10 Nov 04 - 04:45 PM Hang on a minute Roger! Dear Roger! Cropredy!!!!!!! Ooh! OoH! OOH! I think I've fallen into a cow-pat here!! Hark! Is that a lark I hear in the distance? Lizzie. Dim Lizzie!! :-) |
Subject: RE: Cropredy & Sidmouth From: Blowzabella Date: 10 Nov 04 - 06:09 PM Why do I hear strains of - 'and what will I get there Dear Liza, Dear Liza....' |
Subject: RE: Cropredy & Sidmouth From: Lizzie in Sidmouth Date: 11 Nov 04 - 11:43 AM I know Blowabella, I was thinking that myself! :-) Takes me right back to a Christmas pantomime when I was little! "There's a hole in my bucket..... I see someone has a thread going on that song too! Thanks for your message 'somewhere' (can't remember exactly, was it a different thread?) about the play at the Manor Pavillions, sounds good, may try to go! Lizzie |
