You've said it well, one and all, and we are full of gratitude. Subject: RE: Thanks for the music/fellowship, Catters From: C-flat Date: 25 Nov 04 - 07:51 PM "music and fellowship " If I was asked to describe what "Mudcat" is about I would be hard pressed to provide a more succint definition. Chance, I share your feelings of intimacy towards this site and it is a credit to the "regulars" and the general spirit in which this site is maintained, that so many of us "lesser-lights" make our daily visits to read, laugh, learn and, on occassion, contribute. Thanks for your contribution. C-flat. |
Subject: RE: Thanks for the music/fellowship, Catters From: catspaw49 Date: 25 Nov 04 - 08:16 PM Beautiful sentiment Chance and I can do no better than to return the same to you. Thansk so much for your friendship these past years, as well as that of so many others here. Spaw |
Subject: RE: Thanks for the music/fellowship, Catters From: GUEST,Art Thieme Date: 25 Nov 04 - 09:07 PM Chance, I wish I knew you. This place keeps me sane and connected. I am truly thankful for the community. Jerry and Ruth, I love you two. Be sure to give our best to Gideon and Mary -- and Aaron when you talk to him. Kat and Roger, I'm truly enjoying those 2 CDs. The Mac McClintock songs are priceless. That's the most complete version of Jesse James I've ever heard. How the heck did he get it all on one side of a 78? Be sure to check out the James homestead (Jesse, Frank and their parents) in the photos I sent your way last week. One photo was the way the old place looked when I first found it. Rhe other photo is after the restoration. It looks like a typical suburban home. And the window left of the door is where the Pinkertons threw a bomb that tore off the boy's mother's arm. No wonder they became insurgents?? And a Happy Thanksgiving to you all!!! Art Thieme |
Subject: RE: Thanks for the music/fellowship, Catters From: chordstrangler Date: 25 Nov 04 - 09:21 PM Hi Art...Greetings from Chordstrangler and the wild west of Ireland. Believe it or not, the original homeplace of the Jesse family is only a few miles from my present location in Listowel in County Kerry, They were wild before they left here....they were obviously even worse when they re-located. If you should require more information I would be delighted to provide it...regards....M |
Subject: RE: Thanks for the music/fellowship, Catters From: katlaughing Date: 26 Nov 04 - 12:03 AM Thanks, Art! I had no idea that was such a complete version of Jesse James...sure glad he DID get it all on one side of a 78! And, the photos are incredible...they really struck me when I first saw them. So important that you have the "before" picture! I LOVE the MUdcat and the Connections made here! |

Subject: RE: Thanks for the music/fellowship, Catters From: Bob Hitchcock Date: 27 Nov 04 - 10:43 AM Hey Chance, I don't check in here very often but when I do it's nice to see posts from people I have known for a long time, like you. How long has it been? Could it be 25 years? Anyway good luck to you and Susette and all the other Mudcatters out there. Bob. |
Subject: RE: Thanks for the music/fellowship, Catters From: KT Date: 27 Nov 04 - 02:46 PM Aw....Chance, here you are!! No more than ten minutes ago, I was on the phone with Ebbie, and I asked her " Where's Chance been?" And here you are!! Thanks for starting this thread and for expressing so well what so many of us feel. This is indeed a wonderful place, and I'm so very grateful for all of the fine folks I've met here. To those I've met in person, I look forward to next time. And there's a long list of unmet Mudcat friends I hope to have the honor of meeting soon. Now who knows about that paltalk thing? Maybe we should plan a session a few days in advance and get together there....... KT |
Subject: RE: Thanks for the music/fellowship, Catters From: John MacKenzie Date: 27 Nov 04 - 03:31 PM Well Clinton it just proves that there was life here before you and I and others came along. I suspect that a lot of these good people sit and laugh at us relative newcomers, just like parents watch their offspring make the same mistakes as they did. It's no good telling them, best to just let them get on with it, they'll learn. Mudcat has certainly taught me a thing or two, and the day anyone says they've nothing left to learn is the day they should quit Mudcat. All I can say is thanks again from Scotland, and love to all you far flung Catters out there who fill my computer hours with fun. To those I've met, and to those I hope to meet, God bless you all. Giok |
Subject: RE: Thanks for the music/fellowship, Catters From: Fortunato Date: 27 Nov 04 - 04:47 PM Bob, As I am now 29, it was indeed 25 years ago that we met; and I was 4 years old at the time and you were .5, approximately, of course. KT, I've PMd you, but it's good to see your words, cold enough for you up there in Fairbanks? |
Subject: RE: Thanks for the music/fellowship, Catters From: Bill D Date: 27 Nov 04 - 07:05 PM Ah, you were cute little boys at 5 & 6..I remember you well...29 is a good age! I liked it so well, I have done it twice, and working on a 3rd try....I have known some of the nice people on this thread longer than there has been a Mudcat, but others, from Micca and Ebbie and KT onward to Jerry R. and many I have only met online, make me feel like I have known them forever. Pretty good group, I'd say..... |
Subject: RE: Thanks for the music/fellowship, Catters From: Peace Date: 27 Nov 04 - 07:12 PM I have met lots of good people here, and I feel fortunate to have done so. Thank you all. |
Subject: RE: Thanks for the music/fellowship, Catters From: Dani Date: 27 Nov 04 - 07:14 PM Thanks, Chance, for reminding me of one more great big giant blessing in my life. Sunshine in the seams and cracks of life! Mudcat is one way I keep my sanity in this recently-tough life. I took it for granted when things were eas(ier), and like so many other things I've learned as I grow up, we must truly be mindful of what is good, and nurture it so that it'll keep being there. Both for us, and for others. Thank you all for what you give here. 'Greater' or 'lesser', all are lights. Ever notice that no matter how tall, fat, skinny, short, lovely, ugly a candle is, it's got pretty much the same light as all others once the flame is lit? You've got to put more of them together in groups if you want more light. Gratefully, Dani |
Subject: RE: Thanks for the music/fellowship, Catters From: kendall Date: 27 Nov 04 - 07:20 PM Chance, I wish I'd said that.To all you others, I couldn't have said it better. I wish you all a better year than the one just passing. |
