In the lyrics in The DT is the following line of Miles Weatherhill and Sarah Bell....And in Todmorton he did dwell. Is this a mispelling of Todmorden in Yorkshire or is it another place altogether. Also, can anyone tell me if there is any truth to this story ?

It's a mis-spelling. See Miles Weatherhill, The Young Weaver, and his Sweetheart, Sarah Bell at Curiosities of Street Literature (Charles Hindley, 1871).
