Some (many!) years ago I was a Snowdrop and did combined patrols of Adens and Crater City with Bloodnuts!   Does anyone remember the words we sang to the tune of "The Green Berets"?   Our song started "Hats of red and hats of white, riding thorugh the Aden night ---."   Nostalgia ain't what it used to be!

No luck in Google. Could the lyrics have been a home grown thing in your unit?

Don

Bloodnuts= Paras ?
They never say "hats" though.
I met Leadfingers for first time last week. He was in Aden with RAF during the mutiny.
Keith.

Yes, Don, it was a unit thing- or rather a generic thing for RAF and Military Police units there.   I just remember hurtling round the area in vehicles singing the song at the top of our voices - probably to convince ourselves we weren't scared!

And Keith, Bloodnuts = Military Police!   Or meatheads!   I can get away with that, having served in both!!

Hmmm. Sounds like a parody then. And British military to boot. I was unaware that you guys had a sense of humor (humour). :-)

Good luck in the search. Hate to see a good song gone missing for very long.

Don

Of course we have a sense of humour - we've got Tony Blair as a Prime Minister, ain't we???
