Dennis......

The cockles & mussels Molly Malone is in the database. Just search [molly malone], using square brackets. I suspect this isn't the one you're looking for though.

Tenderly Calling sounds like a nice song, I'd like to hear it. Obviously based on the old Softly and Tenderly spiritual, which I always loved.

TENDERLY CALLING
Music & Lyrics by Jan Garrett
Copyright by Fool Child Music.
From the John Denver album "Different Directions"

    CHORUS
    Home, come on home
Ye who are weary come home
    Softly and tenderly calling
    Home, come on home.

Sometimes when I'm feeling lonesome
And no one on earth seems to care
I'm all by myself in the darkness
With no one and nothing to share.

Just when it feels like it's hopeless
And I'll never make it alone
I hear the voices of angels
Tenderly calling me home.

    CHORUS

I try to keep it together
I never let on that I'm scared
Still sometimes I fall to pieces
Scatter and lost everywhere.

Just when it feels like there's no one
To mend all my broken-down dreams
I hear a voice deep inside me
Tenderly calling to me.

    CHORUS

So don't be afraid of the darkness
And don't run away from the storm
Stand up and face your reflection
The feelings you try to ignore.

After the tempest is over
You've let yourself come on through
You'll hear a voice in the silence
Tenderly calling to you.

    CHORUS

Subject: Lyr Add: GOOD WOMAN BAD (P McLaughlin, R Younger)
From: Jim Dixon
Date: 31 Oct 07 - 11:01 PM

GOOD WOMAN BAD
Pat McLaughlin, Roger Younger

She was out last night till way past ten.
Same thing all over again but with my best friend.
Why'd she wanna make me so mad?
I treat that bad woman good, and, Lord, I need a good woman bad.

Now when I asked her to go to Sunday school,
She went and called me a damned old fool.
Now I don't understand:
Why'd she wanna make me so sad?
I treat that bad woman good, and, Lord, I need a good woman bad.

Here she comes.
There she goes.

Well, I saved my money and I bought her a car.
She got it stolen outside the bar.
She looks good but she might not be
The kind of woman that I'm likely to need.

Well, I don't know why I let her walk on me.
She's impolite as she can be.
Now I'm startin' to think, hey, maybe I've been had.
I treat that bad woman good, and, Lord, I need a good woman bad.

[Recorded by Tim O'Brien, Josh Turner, and Pat McLaughlin.]

The song you're looking for is called "Colleen Malone" and was recorded by him when he was still with the Bluegrass band Hot Rize. I don't know the original studio album it's on, but it's on the live Hot Rize CD "So Long A Journey".

Hope this helps!

Whilst we're on the subject, has anyone worked out a good set of chords for "Into the West" - I know its not one of Tim's but he's the only person I know who's done it.

Oh my Gawd, Tim O'Brien does "Molly Malone"?

I can feel my knees going weak. Off to surf iTunes. ;)

*hanging head in shame*

OK, I'm an idiot. It's not *that* Into the West. Though I do think the LOTR song would sound lovely done with Tim's voice and bluegrassy sound. Hmmm...

M

P.S. I like the one he does!

"Tenderly Calling" is sung beautifully on the soundtrack for the film Trip To Bountiful.
