Subject: RE: Cd track list for Potters 'Singing Det.. From: Jim Dixon Date: 04 Jan 05 - 05:53 PM What's an anorak (in this context; I know it's a jacket)? |
Subject: RE: Cd track list for Potters 'Singing Det.. From: Steve Parkes Date: 05 Jan 05 - 09:03 AM Jim, trainspotters ("nerds") wear anoraks; it's a metonymy, where the part represents the whole. We learn something new every day on the Mudcat! Mom has the vinyl record somewhere; I remember there's one number in the tv show that's omitted from it because of some coypright complication, but I can't recall the title. Is there a CD of Pennies from Heaven? (The English version with Bob Hoskins, not the movie with Steve Martin.) Steve |
