I have a recording of the Greenbriar Boys singing "At the end of the long lonely day". I have been told it is a Marty Robbins song. I thought it was trad. What's the real story?
Norman.

Every lyrics site for this song credits Marty Robbins. A guy I know who performs this song also gives credit to Marty Robbins for it.

The actual title of the song is "At the End of a Long, Lonely Day". It is an early effort by Marty Robbins, probably from the early 1950's. He recorded as far back as 1952 for Columbia.

Hope you are listening to the Greenbriar Boys "Ragged But Right" LP. It gets my vote for the best record of the Folk Era. Of course, there is Ian & Sylvia's "Northern Journey", then again...
