Subject: France From: GUEST,Lisa Date: 05 Jan 05 - 10:59 AM If anyone happens to be in the South eastern part of France this winter (may be skiing in the Alps ?) I suggest you spend an evening at Murphy's, a pub in Aix les Bains (right by the Casino, really nice place) where the "Celtic Hangover" will be in concert every first Friday of the month. It's a Celtic folk rock group, (Irish and French musicians). their website : http://membres.lycos.fr/celtichangover where you can download this wonderful piece for fiddle and drums "Tamuriatta". I found free downloads at : http://stage.vitaminic.fr/main/celtic_hangover/all_tracks/ there you can listen to their version of "Tipping it up to Nancy", "Star of the county Down" or to one of their own compositions such as "Get your head together". They're very good on the stage and really know how to communicate with their audience. I'll be there next Friday night. The first concert we saw was in 2003 and since we've tried to see them as much as possible. Lisa |
Subject: RE: France/Irish music From: GUEST,Jim Date: 05 Jan 05 - 12:07 PM Sounds dreadful to my ears Lisa - Star of the County Down at 120mph without any feeling or emotion must rank as the worst version I've evr heard. Good job though that we don't all appreciate the same things - Vive Le Difference! |
