Shaun, the landlord at the Sun, Beverley is running a charity night on Friday 14th Jan and has asked me to organise some live music.

I'm hoping to announce some big names soon, but please pm me if you can either offer to play or just come along for a good night out in a good cause.

Roger

Latest addition to the line up is Craig Souter - who is a great blues player. Craig is also going to flesh out my PA with some extra instrument amps and foldback speakers.

ps

Can anyone let me know a contact number for Pete(Deanmeister)- the mobile that I had from Hazel on Sunday is for someone else!! Alternatively can someone contact him ask him to get in touch with me.

Yes, there is a raffle - prizes so far include a DVD player, CD/Radio, crate of beer, books, CDs, bottles, sweets etc. The landlord has been round the local stores soliciting contributions but is happy to accept other donations from individuals - so please feel free bring whatever you can.

Is there a space for a guitarist - completely sans voice due to long-lasting cough - and piano accordion playing daughter? Kit & I would love to come & help, as long as it's more of a session - joining in and playing along - than a gig- others singing & playing, us just sitting and clapping at the end.
What's the format likely to be?
Lawrie

Suspect it will be a bit of both Lawrie, an element of "Entertainment" will be expected I imagine, in order to get as many punters through the doors as possible and buying raffle tickets, with plenty of space to be filled between the "turns"......but what the heck......on this occasion its the cause that matters and I am sure you and Kit wont be sat twiddling your thumbs for long, look forward to seeing you both ;-).

Bloke

We have about 4.5 hours to fill and I have "turns" who will occupy some of that with sets of around half an hour each. However, there is usually a session in the Sun on a Friday and we hope create enough space for some joining in type stuff.

Having said that, Bassic is correct in that it won't be a "folk audience" but will be the general public who are out for a good time in a good cause. I expect it to be a bit raucus and we will be using a PA to lift the music above the general hubub.

It is all a bit "suck it and see" and I'd be delighted to see you there but wouldn't want you to turn up and be disappointed if it didn't work out as you hoped.

Roger

George, the nearest place to the Sun is the Eastgate Guesthouse - about 250 metres along the road from the Sun - phone 01482 868464.

They are used to accommodating folk festival attendees so can cope with beards etc :-))

It's true, I'm still alive, and confirming that 3 fifths of "Viagra Falls" will be in attendance and full voice for a spot this evening.

This should be an interesting evening!

Well missed it! Still putting programes back on my PC poor old Early Doors was here till the early hours sorting out my hard drive. He said it was a 30 minute job we all said a thank you to Bill Gates. The Mudcat was down from lunch time Rodger so I could not retrive any information before work started. Is there a session on Sunday might try and get over for that. What are the times?

The last figure that I saw was £840 which sounds OK to me.

Thanks to everyone who played or supported the event in any role at all. Apologies to anyone who I missed out from the list of performers or anyone who felt that they had to wait too long to get on.

The truth is that the response was so ovewhelming that I was juggling people and time all night and trying to give everyone at least a bit of time in the spotlight, including the man who was having his chest waxed!

ps

One positive spin-off that I had hoped for has been realised - the landlord is going to re-introduce the booked live acts to The Sun. He realised on Friday what a great way of filling the pub it is.

So, get in touch with him if you want to get a booking.

He's already spoken to me about this. I have offered the services of Viagra Falls as a trio for one night a month. I have to say the night he mentioned to me was Fridays?

Yes, Friday was mentioned last night. Of course, those who come to the regular Friday session were not too impressed as they would be homeless.

Does anyone know why Shaun has picked Friday as the night for this when Sunday has always been the live music night for the Sun in the past?

Roger,
I talked to Gerri, the Landlady of the Woolpack, last night.
She is very keen to put more music on in the pub. She does already take bookings on Sunday evenings. As you know we do have a small session on a tuesday there and musicians who don't fancy tripping over to Barton or would like to play more are more than welcome. If you or others want to explore possibilities with Gerri I suggest you contact her on 867095.
Cheers Ged

I have seen a cheque for £850, but the regional manager (who was stood by the bar all through the gig)has agreed to make it up to £900.
