My friends and I are having dinner for Ann Feeney and a concert at the "intentional community" this week. If you can tell me more about her I would appreciate it.

Art, you must know her....

Hereis her schedule in Florida:a genuine folksinger...

Ann has a great voice---a great persona and is a very politically active person with a really interesting personal history.

I was privileged to have her as a guest on my program a while back---and she did some live music. Both topical and personal.

WHen you see her send her my best wishes---and ask her to send me the WFDU version of The Left Side.

There are a lot of great labor songs she does----one for nurses to the tune of Your Cheatin' Heart---Your Nursin' Heart.

Aside from all that--if you have not yet met her you will find her to be a really warm and open person with many interesting things about her besides her politics.

When I last saw her many years ago at the Labor Festival in Pawtucket, Rhode Island she had a little contraption with her called "The Band In The Box". She used it to accompany herself.

Mother Jones re-incarnate. A wonderful songwriter, folksinger, and one of my favorite people. Give her my warmest regards.

I have been a fan of Annie Feeney for a number of years, but only through her recordings. It seems like every time she was in the area, I was working, such is the life of a performer. But I finally got to meet her a few months ago at the anniversary concert for the Grand River Folk Arts Society in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Joe Hickerson was in town, we went to dinner and then to the concert (he was performing as well). I wasn't disappointed. The voice that I loved to listen to was better live than recorded. And Anne's personality is an amazing asset. She walks on that stage and you are completely taken with her. She clearly loves the music, does it honor, and that comes through in her performance. I got the chance to talk with her for a bit, and she is as lovely offstage as she is on it. We spoke of Jan Burda, and the many friends we have in common. In short, Harpgirl, I think you two are going to get along famously. I only hope that I get a chance to sing together with her one day.

As I said earlier, I don't often get to listen to whole concerts. I sure am tickled that this is one I got to.

All the best,

Mick Lane
