My accordion-playing daughter Kit joined us in Barrow last week for what turned out to be an outstanding session, with great music and a perfect balance of instruments/players. She is working on more numbers, and is going to come - from York, where she lives - to the session on 25th January. It would be really nice to have plenty of people there. Who's up for it?

Isn't ANYONE going to come? It'll be a fairly lonely session if it's just me & Kit.

Hi Bloke - glad you've got over your flu/pneumonia/slight cold/etc!

I'll do my best, but it's a hairy week for me as i am rehearsing (ha!) for my debut as one half of Na Buachaillí Báire appearing at Market Rasen Folk Club on Friday next.
Glad you'e encouraging Kit to press head with her playing.

D

Hello Bloke,

Yes, it was indeed a super session last week especially since you brought the banjo out to play. Sadly I can't make it next time as I am in the middle of the Burn's Supper season and playing at one on Tuesday.

Wow, Karen, you really DO know how to make a chap feel special - pity you never actually do it!
Yes, I was rather Sierra Hotel India Tango last time - in fact my voice still is! - how does a teacher get a lost voice back? But of course your honeyed tones & Colin's plunking willmake me feel better. See ya there!
And Ploughflyer, get that miserable old sod - sorry, strong, silent type - Mal to come along. I'll show him some tricks on the banjo - in my case, how to leave it at home!

Listen, you old Fenian whistler, bring your playing partner along and give us a bit of a preview, we'll clap/throw bricks as appropriate!

And as for you, Cameron, when the crowd get sight ofyour skean dhou tucked into the top of your socks, many a heart will flutter!

Look forward to seeing you, Mr Bass man/Cello/fiddle man!!

So what is to become of us when Pubco take over, Blerk? Will folk be said in sympathetic houses, and practitioners hidden in musician holes whilst the PEL Police search out unlicensed fiddling?

There doesn't seem to be much posting going on. Is it because you are having difficulties getting onto mudcat? If so try the following link:

http://207.103.108.99/threads.cfm

It is the Mudcat Back Door and will get you in, though you will be cookieless.

R.

hooray, Codfiddler

I thought I was the only one having trouble getting in - all that worked for me was the IP address you gave & there was nuffin' on help.mudcat.org to say Mudcat was down.

I was in the middle of writing an email to my personal help desk asking if he had any ideas as to what I could do. Now I'll remove the last par & just leave the other problem.

sandra

Glad to be of assistance. It is the first time I have been helpful and I quite enjoyed it.

I managed to get in normally the other day and there was a link posted on the home page explaining the problems. Apparently, it is due to nasty and pernicious adware/spyware. Those who have it and post to Mudcat are cocking things up (or being blocked). May be worth running something like Adaware or Spybot to get rid of nasties.

Steady on Richard old son. You've got to take this encounter slowly - otherwise you'll have an accident.
