Protocol for submitting lyrics?

Is there a protocol for who can submit lyrics and under what circumstances? Some of the versions of ballads and songs I like are not here. Is it different if you are posting an alternative set of lyrics versus an entirely different song?

Hi, Bekki - it's best if you can find an existing thread on the song. Our Filter is probably the best tool we have for finding old threads. Try to choose the most interesting thread, if there is more than one. Most likely, we'll come around and crosslink your thread to others that discuss the song. If it's a song that hasn't been posted before in other versions, then it's appropriate to start a new thread.

Please do your best to tell us where your version came from.

It's also a good idea to search and see if we might already have your version posted. Since we've been in business eight years now, we have a lot of stuff - but we can always use more.
Many of our "origins" threads are great examples of good studies of songs, with several versions posted.
