Subject: El Greko's bidet @ Puzzle Hall Fri 4 Feb
From: George Papavgeris
Date: 02 Feb 05 - 03:20 PM

Hopefully having learned from my near brush with a roadside ditch (see "Teeside" thread), this Friday 4th February I embark on my first solo pub gig (as in "not a club", just face the punters).

Trepidation doesn't describe it - so if any 'catters happen to be near the Puzzle Hall Inn (Hollins Mill Lane, Sowerby Bridge, West Yorkshire HX6 2QG) this Friday to hold my hand, I for one will be prostrate with gratitude and promise to kiss your feet.

Ah, the "bidet" is a little in-joke in our family: If pronounced properly, it should sound like B-Day. Yep - this Friday marks xx years from when I first peeped out of my mum and thought "looks OK, I'll try it" - the fool!

C U there?

Good luck George.

remember

a change of underpants, - for the passenger and I know its not Vanessa. I trust she'll come to me instead! and check out Judy Allison

See you Saturday night.

then you can explain xx = 20 and you being 52, and the rest.
Gosh ,I hope its not catching.

And we do know what a bidet is, or even what bidets are, we went on school trips to France as kids.
Ah , those girls from Romford!!

Be warned - the Puzzle Hall can get quite smokey.

Will get there to see you if I can.

Good luck George! I'm sure you'll do well. Have you got use of their P.A.? Pubs can be a lot noisier and less respectful than folk clubs so you'll want to stick it to them good and LOUD!!
Wish I could make it!

C-flat.

Thanks for the warning Sarah - I am a smoker, though I prefer singing in smokeless rooms. I'll make sure to have my VocalZones with me for protection. Hope to see you there.

We all know you'll just do great!

They're probably all refugees from 'Last of the Summer Wine'

You can tell us all about it on Saturday.

Best of luck with the smoky Puzzle, George ! I'm sure the venerable Joe will take good care of you.

Can't be there, sorry - I'd promised to be at Gainsboro (this time).

But it's another piece of the jigsaw being slotted in. Today Sowerby Bridge, tomorrow the rest of Yorkshire - and you could say it's close enough to "home in Halifax" I suppose....

As Linda says, Slay 'em George!

Papa-G

I s'pose we have to let you get away now and again and we shouldn't be greedy and we should share....but this is, like, pushing it a bit much - to be away from Snorbens on your birthday.

How are you going to hear us sing "Hippo birdie two ewes" when you are up there?

Have a great birthday. Looking forward to hearing you and the hairy (hairless) one on Saturday.

Love

Mo

Hi again!
I've just registered with Mudcat (by God!) Does that make me a Mudcatter, or do I need to roll one of my trouser legs up and learn a dodgy handshake??
I'm sure I'll get the hang of it before long.

All the best

oh, and in case you don't know what a bidet is there is a link at the bottom of this page.
i wouldput the URL here, but i think if you go there thru the link
it benefits mudcat from the agreement with google to put the ads there.

If you go to the Vocalzone page mentioned above, you can play music with the index buttons. Move the cursor up and down, and keep it to the left of the buttons till you want to touch one of them.

Sincere apologies for not making it last night - put it down to a 2am finish the previous day. Believe me, you wouldn't have wanted me competing with the pa through involuntary snoring...

Happy birthday and hope it went well.

Cheers
Sarah

It went a treat, and I've been asked back!
Had a couple of pints of some lovely stuff ("Landlord"), and Joe Stead cooked up a birthday curry for me.
Great little pub, with a long musical history - I can't remember all the names that played there, but they include Fairport Convention and a long string of luminaries of folk and rock. Why, even Mungo Jerry played there! And the landlord, Nigel, is the friendliest you could hope to meet.

Lucky Sowerby Bridge...

Hi George!

Knew it would go well! Looking forward to seeing you again soon. Clive's looking out for a gig to go to down that way too.

See ya

Glenn & Suzanne (don't know why I registered as "Coggy")
