I think my favorite of Bill's children's songs was the wonderful "Three Craws" ...

His sheer gusto and fun caught me at a formative moment. I'd just gotten a guitar and been singing Burl Ives songs. Bill was endlessly helpful and generous in his unique way. A wonderful man.

Mr. Bonyon used to play at the schools in the area back in the 60s. I was going to Harpswell Islands School at the time, and he was the first person I ever heard playing "Birmingham Sunday." I've been thinking ion on Mr. Bonyon's about him a lot since the horrible church shootings in Charleston, South Carolina yesterday. I'd assumed he was probably dead by now, but was still saddened to hear that he dies in 2001.

I'm also assuming that nobody is really watching this site anymore. But in case I'm wrong, thanks for the source of information on Mr. Bonyon. May he be singing in peace.

Bill was also one of my favorite folk music mentors and one of our neighbors in Maine. Well, "neighbors" might be stretching it. He lived about 15 minutes by boat on Westport Island, or 45 minutes by car.

Bill's son Archie keeps track of his musical recordings and notes. I'll send you his e-mail address.

I'm sorry if I'm off topic here, but I've been searching the web for references to Bill Bonyun and this is the first place where folks have mentioned knowing him. From age 5 through 12 I lived in Sturbridge, MA where my parents worked at Old Sturbridg Village. During the summers Bill played ballads on the village green and I spent a lot of time sitting at his feet. He's the reason I started playing guitar - he even arranged for the purchase of my first guitar - a Tatay! Anyway, I am looking for any old records or music published by Bill. In particular I'm looking for the children's ballads like Billy Barlow, 3 Little Pigs, etc. that he performed. Does anyone here know if there is someone I could contact for this type of information?
