Evening All...

Shameless plug - I have a new album of English Traditional folk music out next week, and if you'd all like to buy a copy so I can retire aged 30, that'd be great!

Album is called "Fearful Symmetry" and it's out on Fellside records, Cat no FECD186 - If anyone wants to order a copy off me, send me a pm, or email me via www.jonloomes.com Price is £13 (+ £1.50 p+p) - I'm quite pleased with it - people who have heard it all seem to like it anyway!

Thank you,
Jon

+++++++

Corrrrrr...why duz itt neeed a Cat numberrr?

EJC

It's not yet listed on the Fellside site, but as its place in the catalogue between Ed Rennie and Peter Bellamy should give some idea of the quality. I saw Jon with Paul Scourfield (who is also on the CD) doing a preview recently which went down a storm at Islington Folk Club.

(Big clue: Jon Loomes is a part of Whorticulture,,,)

Oh blimey!

Well...I >live< in Doncaster, although I travel all over the place!

Song titles... as follows:

Jacky Tar, Ride in the Creel, The Ploughman, Rolling in the Dew, Grandfather's Polka/Polka d'avreyon, All for me grog, Seeds of love, Would you marry a young virgin of 15 years old/seven stars, Jupiter, Bridgewater fair, Riddles wisely expounded, Wild Boar, Fine flowers in the valley, Three Gypsies.

Mostly unusual versions of well known stuff, with fiddle, guitar, hurdy gurdies, melodeon, english bagpipes and recorders. Texturally, It sounds a bit like some of the stuff on "penguin eggs"

hope that helps! Jon

Is the Market Rasen club on again? I hadn't heard anything.

Jon - are you going to the National? I'll have a CD off you if/when I see you there, or wherever else if before.

Jon-

Thanks for clarifying what's on your CD. My group is also planning to record "Gosport Nancy" and are curious whether you were able to track it back beyond Cyril Tawney who collected this wonderful sailortown song but listed it as anonymous in his book of naval ballads Gray Funnel Lines.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

All the best with the album. Isn't out a bit late for this years folk awards or are you taking a long run up for next years? Cllr

Hi Mike- yes, it's too late for the folk awards for this year - so it'll be the long run up! - fingers crossed, apparently theres a lot of good new stuff happening this year, so I'll have a bit of competition!

Cheers,
jon.

Best of luck with the new album, English Jon. Will it be available in the US? Well, since you're with an actual record label, I suppose that's a yes, eh?
