I got the version of Doc Watson of this famous blues it's slightly
different from the Taj Mahal one ,both in lyrics and in chords.
As I told in my previous request I'm an Italian Doc fan that doesn't
understand very well the lyrics directly from the source.
If some friend have some time to spend....
Thanks, Domenico

The Taj Mahal version is in the DT. The Henry Thomas seminal recording lyrics and other links to other threads may be found here: CLICK HERE.

Hi, Bambini - I found the lyrics here:
http://www.hitslyrics.com/d/docwatson-lyrics-16878/imgoingfishing-lyrics-630303.html

There are lots of other Doc Watson lyrics at that site. In the U.S., the song is on a CD called "Elementary Dr. Watson." I don't have that album, so I can't confirm whether the lyrics on the Website are correct. It's most certainly a version of "Fishin' Blues."

All the best to you.

I'M GOING FISHING
(as sung by Doc Watson)

I walked down the hill about twelve a clock
I sat right down on a great big rock
I looked down the water en blessed my soul
I seen a great big catfish jumpin' that hole

(chorus)
I'm a gonna fishin 'cause everybody's fishing
And I'm a gonna fishing too

You bet your life That your lovin' wife
Might catch more fish than you
Any fish will bite if you got good bait
And here's a little something That I'd like to relate
And when it's time to bite, Lord, the fish won't wait
I'm a gonna fishin 'cause everybody's fishing
And I'm a gonna fishing too

I went to the store and I took a look
Got a pole and some line and a triple hook
Then an old man smiled as he said to me
Son, catch a big catfish for me

(chorus)

I lean right back against on old big tree
Then a big old bass took a look at me
He took my bait when I throwed my line
When I got him to the bank, Lord, he sure looked fine

(chorus)
