According to his web site Vin is scheduled for an operation tomorrow
tuesday 22nd Feb

I ,along with with everyone at the St Albans Wind and Spot clubs will be praying for a full return to health for England's no 1 Folk Singer.

We need you Vin, you are the Star here.

Incidentally February 22nd is the feast day of St Elvis - he was an Irishman who ended up in Cornwall, in the Sixth Century. So that's quite a good saint to be keeping an eye out for a singer.

Vin's operation has gone well. The heart port procedure was a success and Vin is recovering well. He should be moved out of intensive care today. Vin and I cannot express the respect and gratitude that we have for the surgeons, doctors and nurses that have been caring for Vin at The James Cook University Hospital. "

I was speaking to Pat (Vin's wife) today. She says that Vin is making extremely good progress.

He's got all his tubes out, is out of bed and has regained his sense of humour.

She's hoping to have him home in a few days.

Lets all keep finger crossed .

Just received the latest circular from Vin - I saw him at Avoncroft Museum on Friday anyway, but he gives here the picture in his own words.

I sat down for my performances and chose my songs carefully to retain my energy but I managed a bit of patter and even subjected the Winchester audience to a look at my scars! I have lost a couple of stones so I managed to sell 47 brass rubbings of my ribcage at Winchester, one in the cathedral, without my permission! Joking apart the audiences were great, so understanding of my situation.
            Despite the fact that I have had to cancel Croydon to ease the work load this week (my sincere apologies to all concerned) I am now filled with confidence and feel that my return to work will, God willing, be permanent, although I may not be fully fit until next year.
            I would like to thank the staff at The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough and Woodside Surgery in Loftus for saving my life twice. I am very lucky that the Cardiac Unit up here in the North East of England is second to none. I have had fantastic care from everyone and especially from Pat. I told the doctor that I can manage without the heart but I can't manage without Pat.
            This has been the most difficult six months of my life but the support from all of you out there has been phenomenal. Your hundreds of cards, letters and emails, prayers and good will have contributed to my recovery immeasurably.
            Thank you so much from the bottom of my er…. dicky ticker. Normal service is now resumed!!
