Subject: NTIF 2005- who's going? From: GUEST,Sharon G Date: 22 Feb 05 - 09:53 AM Hi there- Just wondering what other mudcatters will be going to the North Texas Irish Festival. My group, Round the House is coming as one of the regional bands. I know Jed Marum will be there- as a headliner (!) Anyone else performing, attending, looking for sessions? Sharon |

Subject: RE: NTIF 2005- who's going? From: GUEST,Claire Date: 02 Mar 05 - 11:57 AM Just reading a bit of mudcat and found this thread. The clogging workshop description didn't make it onto the website (hopefully it will be in the program if there is one), so I thought I would let anyone who is interested know a bit more. The clogging workshop is focussed on the connection between Appalachian flatfoot clogging and sean nos step dancing. There is a remarkable similarity in the styles of the dancing and many of the individual steps have very strong similarities. We'll be looking at the connections between some sean nos hornpipe steps and their cousin-clogging steps. As we do that, we learn and practice the clogging steps and dance them to old time tunes, played by Round the House. We are psyched to be going out to the festival. Looking forward to meeting some of you and to seeing you again, Jed. All the best, Claire |
