Well, I've just checked with my Tardis that everyone had had a good time in March, Lynne discovered Vodka looked exactly like water until it was too late and the Cally Hanna was last seen at high speed going the wrong way around the Cheshire Ring although the Helicopter rescue made the six o'clock news , -so strange Lynne,stick with the Cider you know and love and Rachel, wear a wet-suit!

Unlikely I'm afraid Mr Happy....we'd love to do it again, but have a problem with a venue. There's also the problem that, being a free festival, all the publicity came out of our pockets and all the work was done by the two of us...it was a bit much. If you can make any suggestions as to how to overcome these problems, we'd gladly give it another try. Perhaps we should just have a weekend-long music party with camping on our back lawn?

Well it looks as though we have a quorum then!

I had a phone call the other day, from two Irish pipers (father and son) of the name of Doran. They live in Coalville, which is not at all far from us, and were interested in any sessions we might have going since nothing ever happens around here. I'm told that, in the world of Uillean (or however you spell it!) piping, the Doran family are very big indeed, so the session is beginning to look very interesting!

The scottish pipes do sound like a sheep being strangled sometimes, they are an instrument of war designed to put the fear of god into the enemy after all... I don't think an inflated chicken could do that, but the Uilleann is a banshee after a pan-galatic gargle blaster!!

It's about three miles from Ashby de la Zouch, between Measham and Swadlincote. Not far off the A444 to Burton and only a couple of minutes from the A42.

Not sure Sandy & I can make it, as we will be at Miskin FF the previous weekend and then in Welsh Wales for the earlier part of the week. But it is in the Easter Holidays, so there is a possibility. And Sandy would certainly appreciate the Old Rosie!
Is there a reasonably sized (& quietish!) car park for our campervan overnight or would we need to do the 50 mile drive back to Stratford-upon-Avon after the session?

Hmmm...I'm sure we could sort something out for the camper van Alan. There's a car park at the back of the pub and I don't imagine the landlord would have any worries about you staying in it over night. It's nice and quiet, being on a little side lane which doesn't go anywhere much. We'll speak to the landlord before the time and let you know. It would be great if you could make it! We'll talk about it at Miskin!

We spoke on mudchat the other night before it crashed. I'm intending to come. I normally bring concertina and/or melodeon to sessions but sometimes the double bass if it's appropriate and there's room. Is it going to be crowded?

Mitch, I don't know if it's going to be crowded...at the moment I'm doing what I always do just before something we've organised, and panicking that NO ONE is going to come. We had a cello in last time and that worked ok.....I should think it would be great. Bring it and see! Whatever, bring yourself.

That applies to everyone...please come and stop me from having the depression caused by organising an event and no one turning up!!

I know we've had quite a few people saying they are definitely coming and several saying they'd try and a few others saying they just might....if they all come it will be really good!

What a great night! And this time I remember it all! We had a full room, a lovely variety of singers and musicians and even a poet. There was a high proportion of Mudcatters, of course...thanks for coming Robbie Wilson, Emma B, Mitch the Bass, Don(Wyziwig)T, Bassic, Rock Chick, Muddle C, Cally Hanna, Penny Whistle, Eagle Wing, Richard Ashe (whose Mudcat name I can't remember)and anyone else I've forgotten.

I hope the next one will be somewhere around the end of June, and I hope it will keep up the standard of the two we've had so far. See you there?

Thanks to all for a great session. Winnie and I loved every minute of it, and it was especially nice to be able to put faces to all those nice people I had only met on the internet. Makes me yearn to be living up north.

Thanks especially to Lynne for running herself ragged, keeping a light hand on the tiller, and balancing the whole affair.

I hope to be doing the same next year, after I retire, so I'll see you all again.

Of course I shall see some of you first week of August. Can't wait.
