Joe: I had no idea "Introducing the Beers Family" was available on cd. It looks like it was released on Sep. 2015. Thank you for this information.

I loved the Beers Family voices, and their songs. Long ago had 1 LP album with some wonderful numbers, and can't find it now. I'd love to obtain a CD rendering of their work. If anyone knows where I might do that, please email me at: jandkswarts@charter.net

I have one to add to the list, Christmas With The Beers Family on Columbia. It still has the sticker on it with the price I paid, 19 cents. The number is about 200 higher than Introducing The Beers Family, which is advertised on the back.

there are a couple other records I have

"Introducing the Beers Family" ...their first, I gather..(found it in 2nd hand store for $3-4..A-1 shape! *grin*)...first heard it about 1964 in a friends collection...lusted for it ever since..

and a solo album by Bob Beers "Fiddler Beers Sings Psalty Psongs with Psaltry and Pfiddle" 'Prestige-International'no date...mid-60's I'd guess

oh! and.."The Golden Skein" on Biograph Records with Bob & Evelyne (1972)

The Beers Family were one of the first 3 'folk' concerts I ever heard...in Wichita , Kans...(others were Pete Seeger & The New Lost City Ramblers)

Both CDNow and Music Blvd have the Beers' Seasons of Peace on CD (get there from support the mudcat box). I remember Seasons of Peace, but don't have a card on it, so a roommate may have owned it. I have Dumbarton's Drums and Gentleness in Living of theirs, from the early 70s. Bob Beers ran the Fox Hollow Festival on his farm near Albany NY. I owe a lot of my musical tastes to him, since that came at just the right time in my musical development. You might also look into Folk Legacy records in general and the Golden Ring in particular for music with the same feel as some of what was at Fox Hollow. A number of the Fox Hollow performers are recorded by Folk Legacy. I think their website is www.folklegacy.com Someone will correct me if that is not right.

well, Evelyn and her daughter did 'some' performing after Bob Beers died..there were never a lot of records by the group..(5..? 6?...)Bob played the fiddle and the the Psaltry...a cross between a piano and a hammered dulcimer(or maybe a harpsichord) that was plucked by hand..(I was privileged to help him carry it once!)...surely there must be SOME re-issues of their delightful music!

As a young girl I recall hearing some wonderful songs by the Beer Family. My father has some of their music on reel to reel, but I was wondering if anyone knows of any of their recordings on tape or cd. I understand that after the patriarch of the family died that they no longer performed. I appreciate any info on these folks. Thanks!

Leslie
