Subject: Folk Stars & Their Guitars From: GUEST,Aaron S. Date: 04 Mar 05 - 02:38 PM Is there a museum where 50's and 60's folk stars guitars are displayed? I'd also like to know what brand guitars stars like Odetta, Joan Baez, Dylan, Judy Collins, Josh White and others played in their heyday. Where can this information be found? Aaron |
Subject: RE: Folk Stars & Their Guitars From: Wesley S Date: 04 Mar 05 - 04:40 PM In order - Gibson, Martin, anything handy, Martin, and Martin. There you go. ( although I might be wrong about Josh White } Seriously - Acoustic Guitar magazine has an online section called "What they play" - A lot of the folks mentioned here have been interviewed and go into detail about the instruments they use. |

Subject: RE: Folk Stars & Their Guitars From: GUEST,Auggie Date: 04 Mar 05 - 10:56 PM I know Steve Goodman played a Gibson and some Martins, but do any of you Catters know who made the Selmer Maccaferri-style guitar that's on the cover of Santa Ana Winds? |

Subject: RE: Folk Stars & Their Guitars From: Don Firth Date: 04 Mar 05 - 11:02 PM Joan Baez used (still uses, maybe) a Martin 0-45 parlor guitar that was made in 1929 (I think). Great sounding instrument. Martin is now making a "signature model" of this guitar. Here's some pertinent poop on it. TWANG!! Don Firth |
