Oh how wonderful, Chris really is a rare treat! Saw him at an Extravaganza & now rave about him to anyone who'll listen. Won't be able to join you, but I have his CD 'Traces' which I would recommend to all who love traditional songs, well sung. Hope he sings 'The Ranter' for you, am thinking of learning it myself. Have fun!

Please pass on my best to him as well, from Sunny London.
IMHO This man has been scandalously ignored by people in his own country, who are too busy chasing the latest fad. I do hope this is the first of many return visits.
A prince amongst guitarists, no doubt, If you admire Carthy.Jones.Simpson then check him out.

All the best Ralph Jordan

Ralphie

I agree. I went to a Hands on Music weekend at Witney in Oxon where he was teaching English fingerstyle guitar. He was a good tutor and I was impressed by his technique and by the way he thought about developing the songs. I check his web site now and again and I'm struck by how little he seems to be performing at clubs and festivals. I think it is a question of him being ignored rather than the other way round, which is a great pity. Would I say he is the equal of the obvious well known contemporaries? Yes I think I probably would.

Enjoy the gig.

Have heard Chris live and on Cd.

He is not flashy and has no gimmicks - Just sings and performs beautifully with impeccable guitar accompaniment.

What more does an audience want ?

Chris does not appear much these days as he is now living in Iceland with his partner Bara Grimsdottir. He will be over again later in the year and will be singing at the Bodmin Folk Club in Cornwall on Friday 12th of August along with Bara. and what an incredible singer this lady is, she has a wonderful voice, and has to be heard to be believed
