Subject: Lyr Req: Rig the jig-Lough Ree From: GUEST,JB Date: 25 Mar 05 - 01:37 PM Greetings from Germany, Heard a lovely song today on the readio sung by Rig the jig entitled "Logh Ree". Does anybody know if this is a modern composition or is it an old trad. song? I would love to get the music and the words, can anyone help? I do intend to by the CD. Thanks in advance and Happy Easter everyone. JB |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Rig the jig-Lough Ree From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 25 Mar 05 - 02:01 PM Never heard of the band, but they have a website at http://www.rigthejig.com/, where you will find that the song is called My Home by Lough Ree. A brief sound clip found elsewhere has the feel of a modern composition in the sentimental vein. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: My Home by Lough Ree (from Rig the Jig) From: MartinRyan Date: 29 Mar 05 - 04:04 PM Each year,I teach a short course on Irish traditional music and song to a mix of European and other students in my college taking a course in Irish Studies. For one of the sessions, Brendan, an accountancy lecturer in the college, obligingly comes in, plays a few tunes and talks about the musicians' perspective on the music. He's a fine player (button accordeon, mainly). Regards |
