Mainely Celtic Harps , an exposition and celebration of the Celtic harp will be presented at the Maine Irish Heritage Center, State St, Portland on Saturday April 16. A display and demonstration area will be open free to the public from 12:30 until 4:30. The Song of the Sea music store from Bar Harbor and the Harp Connection of Salem MA will have harps on display and for sale as well as books, CDs and other harp-related items. An on-going open-mike harp circle and hands-on demo will allow the public to hear and try their hand at various harps. During the afternoon there will be special workshops on a variety of subjects including, Harps and Healing, The Celtic Harp Tradition, and Harpbuilding and Historic Reproduction with master harp-builder Jay Witcher. Admission to the workshops is $5 for the afternoon. An evening concert featuring regional musicians Regina Delaney, Jane Wilcox Hively and Julia Lane of Castlebay will begin at 7:30. Is this a regular event? I'd be tempted to make the trip if I had know in advance. Would like to be on a mailing list if pos for next year, if it is a regular thing...
