i just happen to have rec'd a c.d. today of the Guv'nor, Ashley Hutchings, the Albion Band, and Fairport Convention.
alas, that song is not on it, but 15 others by the Albion band are,
and also the Sawdust band.

Also from that site:
In the sleeve notes to the 1978 album Rise Up Like the Sun the song is described as "an attempt to push the traditional sea shanty towards a country blues style... with a chord progression developed from the James Taylor song Wandering."
