Subject: I married Rose From: Samantha Date: 09 Dec 98 - 10:28 PM i was once taught a kind of song/poem of which i do not know the name. It start "i married Rose in '49, when everything was fine..." and it continues on with their life, of their problems and deaths, and after each problem, the man telling this sings"that's okay Rose would say. DOn't you worry none. We'll have a good time by and by next fal when the works all done." In the end Rose dies, but he can still hear her singing that part. I learned it when i visited america as a young girl. Now that i've come back, i would like to know the rest. Can anyone help me? |
Subject: Bring on the dirges From: Eric Date: 10 Dec 98 - 06:25 PM Soon, Christmas will be over and we'll be in deep Winter. I need some new dirges to go with the cold and gloom. I really enjoy "Lyke Wake Dirge" and am looking for a few more slow, sad songs (preferably from the database). Any suggestions? Eric |

Subject: RE: I married Rose From: Joe Offer Date: 17 Dec 98 - 03:05 AM Hate to tell you this, Samantha. We had a long discussion of this song in this thread, but we didn't come up with an answer. Keep checking. Someday, somebody will find it. Another place to check would be www.GlennYarbrough.com Oh, I guess I found it, eh? can't say I'm enough of a Yarbrough fan to want to buy the album to transcribe it. -Joe Offer- |
