                               I have been a bit out of touch recently, what with one thing or another,and can't remember the dates for this months sessions at 'The Black Boy' and 'The Oberon'
Can anyone enlighten m?.I have got chicken pox at the moment and would like to pop along and share it with you all.

We were very glad when the pub regained it's original name 'The Oberon', from the fairly meaningless 'Cask and Cutter', one of those name changes forced by an unthinking management company in the name of 'corporate identity'.

Oberon

The Black Boy, on the other hand has a similar management company but has kept the same name for quite some time, although admitedly not since it became a pub in 1729.

It's a well-konown mispront, Ted. It is very near where the Humber Ferry used to cross over to furrin parts, and so was named after the King of the Ferries.

Les, I have spoken to Dean as well. The information is now public knowledge among CAMRA members so dont hold back old boy. This is what I know.

Dean relinquishes the lease on the Oberon tomorrow, 1 March. Admiral Taverns, new owners having purchased the pub in last month, are advertising the pub for sale on the open market but already have an interested party, Paul Dixon Group. PDG have bought the banana warehouse next door and want to raise that area to the ground and build a new development on it. Problem is its in a conservation area although we suspect a deal has already been done with council. Should PDG get the Oberon chances are it will be demolished without re-opening again.

As for Dean he is taking the lease on the White Hart, Alfred Gelder Street from 13 March. He has brewery renewing handpulls and beer lines in next fortnight so real ale should be back in the pub. Are you hoping to move session to there?

Les, any other news from your conversations with Dean?

Dean has asked us to move the session there, but I would like to hear from others before we move. I'm sure the beer will be up to standard but as a humble Guinness addict I'll be interested in your views, of course.

I know I am only a very occassional visitor but my thoughts are:-
1) Flatten the Oberon tomorrow, and build flats on the site.
2) Guinness is for girls.
3) The White Hart is a glorious building compared to The Oberon.
