Subject: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: Dave Bryant Date: 03 May 05 - 08:06 AM Well we're getting round to that time of year again, so Essex Girl and myself are extending our usual invitation to come and drink, eat, make music, sing etc at our place: 12 Porcupine Close, Mottingham (near Eltham), SE9 3AE. (map here) On Sunday 26th June from 2pm onwards until we're all too sozzled or tired to carry on any more. It'll be our usual well-tested "Bring it and Burn it" format, where we expect you to bring whatever you want to barbecue (Meat, Fish, Veggie, Road Kill etc - no garden or household rubbish though !) and we supply pitta/bread, salad, and other accompaniments. I shall also be supplying 10 gals of beer from the famous (or should it be infamous) Porcupine Brewery. We look forward to seeing you in your usual hordes. PS Have you spotted my customary deliberate mistake yet ? - there always is one. |
Subject: RE: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: Dave Bryant Date: 03 May 05 - 08:09 AM - oh yes it's in the heading. Joeclones - please could you sort it. |
Subject: RE: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: GUEST,The Barden of England at work Date: 03 May 05 - 08:26 AM It's the start to a song Dave:- Come and dine, at the BBQ'ine Down at the famous Porcupine John B |
Subject: RE: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: Dave Bryant Date: 03 May 05 - 09:12 AM We've also added to our famous herd of Gazebos. One of the originals died last year and another was looking rather tired after a constant errection for over six months, so we've aquired two more (green and white) youngsters to help strengthen the breed. BTW John - will you be able to get there this year ? |
Subject: RE: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: GUEST,Dave K Date: 03 May 05 - 03:08 PM Hi Dave, Thank you for your invite - Will be careful not to fall in the pond again. Or did I imagine it. Must have been something to do with the famous Porcupine tree brewery special I consumed last year. No doubt see you before the day. Dave |

Subject: RE: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: GUEST,chinaman Date: 06 Jun 05 - 05:08 AM Soundz good - But the last time I went to a BBQ all the other guests kept poking fun at me saying "sweet and sour chicken for the chinky" I would be great to share a burnt sausage with some nice folky people. |
Subject: RE: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: Dipsodeb Date: 06 Jun 05 - 06:03 AM We will be there Dave pending that all hangovers from Knockholt are dealt with. We may even be able to bring some leftover beer to the barbie rather than the other way round but that is very doubtful :-) ~Debs~ |
Subject: RE: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 06 Jun 05 - 07:33 AM Us folkies are far too polite to make ethnic jokes, chinaman. Besides we know only too well what it's like to be the subject (old men in Arran sweaters; finger-in-esr; and suchlike). I do LIKE sweet &sour chicken tho'. Don T. (honkey folkie) |
Subject: RE: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: GUEST,Essex Girl Date: 06 Jun 05 - 08:49 AM Debs, 'you very much doubt if there'll be any beer left? I very much doubt if there'll be any alcohol left at all, going by last year. Still we always seem to have enough at the barbie. The beer is all in the barrel now and looking very good. See you at Knockholt. |

Subject: RE: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: Dave Bryant Date: 20 Jun 05 - 10:31 AM Well it's less than a week away now, so I thought I ought to refresh the thread. Let's hope that the warm spell lasts, but perhaps a bit cooler. The "Knockers" beer turned out very well at Knockholt last weekend, and I've got 5 gals of a similiar brew for the BBQ plus another 5 of what should be a rather fine lighter bitter. Hope to see you all in your usual numbers inclusing quite a few extras we invited at Knockholt. |

Subject: RE: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: Dave Bryant Date: 20 Jun 05 - 03:33 PM We could always have a pretend sheep - what about Dilligaf on all fours covered with a sheepskin rug ? |
Subject: RE: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: Essex Girl Date: 20 Jun 05 - 06:10 PM Liz, just bring whatever meat/fish or other that you wish to barbecue. The latest CD, "GUIDE CATS VOLUME 2, The Missing Persian Files" should be available in August, but you can have chamce to hear some of it on Sunday. LTS might have to be gagged though, to prevent annoyance to the neighbours - or perhaps we can distract her with a large chocolate cake. |

Subject: RE: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: Dipsodeb Date: 27 Jun 05 - 03:28 AM What a great afternoon. Great beer, great food and great company, what more can you ask apart from having great music and good weather! Thanks Dave and Linda you worked very hard and it was superb as always. ~Debs~ |
Subject: RE: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: GUEST,The Barden of England at work Date: 27 Jun 05 - 03:45 AM Sorry I couldn't make it Dave & Linda, but number 2 daughter was home for the weekend and I had to take her back home yesterday so that put paid to me coming. Subject: RE: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: Richard Bridge Date: 27 Jun 05 - 04:07 AM Was excellent! At about 2 this morning however I succeeded in twisting my ankle tripping out of my own conservatory, so now what with the hangover I hurt at both ends. |
Subject: RE: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: fair maiden of nottingham Date: 27 Jun 05 - 07:24 AM hi dave, excellant bbq as always, i was driving so reduced alcohol intake. but experienced the pleasure of your beer through my camera lens LOL. i have sent pics to jeff (this is first time to try this so i do not know what happends to them next). Look forward to the next one, PS i will do a copy of that CD for you. Fisheye |
Subject: RE: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: Dave Bryant Date: 27 Jun 05 - 11:29 AM Thanks to everyone who came for making it such a wonderful afternoon, evening . . and early morning - after lighting the patio heater we didn't get indoors until after midnight. Especial thanks to Girl Friday for organising the performers, Dilligaf for helping with the clearing up, and to Richard Bridge for climbing up a ladder to get the PA speaker down. I don't think we've ever had so much music and song at one of our BBQs before. |
Subject: RE: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: Don(Wyziwyg)T Date: 27 Jun 05 - 01:26 PM Wowwwwwwww! Headache is beginning to recede. Have just spent complete day on autopilot. Thanks Dave and Linda, a great BBQ, wonderful music, and THAT BEER! Don & Winnie T. |
Subject: RE: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: Dead Horse Date: 28 Jun 05 - 04:24 AM Damn! I missed seeing Richard "trip out". So it wasnt only beer on offer, huh? Heh Richard, is a conservatory the same as a laboratory, only it leans to the right? |
Subject: RE: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: Dave Bryant Date: 30 Jun 05 - 06:55 AM I'm still waiting for Fisheye's pics to appear in the Mudcat Events photos - I think there were enough 'catters there to qualify. There was definitely enough singing and music to justify this thread not being in the BS section. |
Subject: RE: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: Avril Betts Date: 30 Jun 05 - 07:18 AM I tried to get there, but when I got a lift up the M1 to Nottingham, I couldn't find Porcupine Close. Still the driver did put me up for the night - until his wife came back unexpectedly at 2 o'clock in the morning. |
Subject: RE: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: Dave Bryant Date: 30 Jun 05 - 07:22 AM If you weren't to vain to wear your glasses, you'd have seen that it was Mottingham not Nottingham you silly girl. |
Subject: RE: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: GUEST Date: 30 Jun 05 - 05:10 PM When you hold a porcupine close, you get lots of little pricks! |
Subject: RE: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: GUEST,Liz the Squeak Date: 01 Jul 05 - 04:22 AM Avril - you'd have been better off on the A1... much better class of lorry driver... LTS |
Subject: RE: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: Dave Bryant Date: 05 Jul 05 - 11:24 AM I'm still waiting for Jeff to put Richard's (Fisheye) pictures up on member's photos. In the meantime you can find them on his own site HERE. There's also one on Dave Kenningham's site HERE. Margaret has sent me a CD of pictures and I'll select a group to send to Jeff. |
Subject: RE: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: GUEST,MMario Date: 05 Jul 05 - 11:36 AM BIG ladybugs you folk have over on the East side of the pond!!!! |
Subject: RE: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: Dave Bryant Date: 06 Jul 05 - 02:47 AM Dave Kenningham seems to have switched the photo to one of Knockholt - although he still claims that it's the BBQ. MMario - Richard (Fisheye) takes photo professionally so he tends to plaster his ladybug logo over any of them which he displays online. |
Subject: RE: Folk BBQ ine SE London 26th June From: Dave Bryant Date: 06 Jul 05 - 03:04 AM Whoops I didn't read carefully enough - if you click on the Knockholt picture you get to more BBQ ones. |
