Subject: NW Leicestershire Session From: MBSLynne Date: 04 May 05 - 08:05 AM The third North West Leicestershire session will take place on Thursday 23rd June. The first one was great and the second even better....can we keep getting better still?? So...who's coming? Love Lynne |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Session From: GUEST,Julie Date: 04 May 05 - 08:31 AM Might come if you can tell us where it is? Is this an irish session or any folk? Thanks |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Session From: EagleWing Date: 04 May 05 - 01:18 PM If it's where it usually is, it is held at the Turk's Head pub in Donisthorpe. About 3 or 4 miles from Ashby de la Zouch and very close to the border with Derbyshire. Any folk music (and some that isn't) goes so long as it's acoustic (though Ted has been known to plug his mandoline in). Frank L. |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Session From: Shanghaiceltic Date: 04 May 05 - 04:20 PM I made the first session and it was great. Ted's electified mando is good. Leave him alone :-) Wont make this session, still stuck in China. |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Session From: MBSLynne Date: 04 May 05 - 05:32 PM Pity Frank! Well let us know when you are next over and we'll organise one specially!. Yes it's in the Turks'sv Head, Donisthorpe and is anything in the way of music at all really. Even plugged in is ok. I think what it boils down to is, as long as it's live it's fine. Love Lynne |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Session From: EagleWing Date: 05 May 05 - 12:57 PM Ghosts, Goulies and the undead are banned from playing or singing though they're all right as audience. Frank L |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Session From: GUEST,MBSLynne Date: 05 May 05 - 03:56 PM Frank! I'm sure it can't be politically correct to ban the undead from singing or playing! It certainly wouldn't be on the Discworld! Love Lynne |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Session From: CallyH Date: 06 May 05 - 05:22 PM I will be there if I possibly can ... the first two were great. But it is in teh middle of one of Carl's 18 days off (funny shift pattern - every 8 weeks he gets 18 days off) so we could be anywhere. But if I'm not anywhere else I'll definitely be in teh Turk's Head. Rachel |

Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Session From: MBSLynne Date: 20 May 05 - 02:40 AM Get there early Tim and you can save me one! Just an advanced notice...we are also probably going to have a weekend long session at our house and the Turk's Head the last w/e in September, which is also the first w/e in October. Camping available. We will do what we can to arrange it to best advantage, and hopefully it will be a preliminary to the return of the Donisthorpe Music Weekend in 2006. Anyone likely to be up for it? Any suggestions? We MAY run a ceilidh on the Friday evening if anyone is interested.... Love Lynne |

Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Session From: alanww Date: 15 Jun 05 - 07:39 PM Sandy & I are a poss, Lynne, as it is on the way to the Four Fools FF at Preston in Lancs! "Deep blue sea, honey!" Alan |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Session From: Zany Mouse Date: 15 Jun 05 - 07:58 PM Hi Lynne Sounds good. Can you tell us more about times, food etc. Also, if Mick can get along, would it be possible to bring our Yorkshire Terrorist puppy, Max, please? (That goes for the Sept weekend too). He is very people-friendly. Rhiannon |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Session From: MBSLynne Date: 18 Jun 05 - 08:58 AM The session next Thursday (23rd) is at about 8.00 in the Turk's Head in Donisthorpe. I'm not sure about the puppy...don't know the pub's policies on dogs. It has got quite crowded in there at previous sessions though. I'll worry about the September do after Sidmouth...just get the 1st weekend in October down in your diaries. If I said the last weekend in September, it was because the 30th is on the Friday...sorry for any confusion. Please come next Thursday!!! I'm beginning to panic again! |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Session From: MBSLynne Date: 20 Jun 05 - 02:43 AM Aaaaaaaaaagh!!! No one's going to come to my party!! |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Session From: alanww Date: 23 Jun 05 - 08:57 AM There, there, calm down Lynne! Sandy & I are coming! "As I was a-walking one morning in May!" Alan |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Session From: el_punkoid_nouveau Date: 24 Jun 05 - 03:06 AM You can stop panicking now Lynne - we had another brilliant night, sat on the decking outside the Turks! The only complaints we had from the locals were that we hadn't told them... |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Session From: MBSLynne Date: 24 Jun 05 - 03:43 PM Yep.....arrived to find Alan and Sandy sitting outside enjoying the evening. Cally Hanna came out of the pub just then and we sat down, then more people arrived...then more! We had a brilliant night, joined by the neighbours when they heard the music. Great!! The next one will, hopefully, be our weekend long session the first w/e in October.....see you there? I was particularly proud of ShadyLady (aged 9), who has been singing in folk clubs and at festivals since she was five, but up to now has mostly sung school songs. She's developing a good taste in folk music (goes to sleep listening to Cara and Isambarde!) and sang "The Unquiet Grave" last night. She's shaping up to being a lovely little singer. Love Lynne |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Session From: BoatinWend Date: 24 Jun 05 - 05:37 PM Yes it was a great night. Nice to see you all and esp to see some old friends not seen for years |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Session From: MBSLynne Date: 25 Jun 05 - 08:04 AM Is that you Wendy? I didn't know you were a Mudcatter! Love Lynne |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Session From: BoatinWend Date: 29 Jun 05 - 04:58 PM Yes Lynne it is me. I only discovered this site a few months ago. Rediscovered it last week when searching for Turks Head to see if your session was still on which is how I got into this thread. Hope to see you soon. Wendy |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Session From: BoatinWend Date: 29 Jun 05 - 05:03 PM By the way. I don't understand the time system on this site. My last message says it was submitted at 04.58 PM - there is no such time! Now I see it is 5 PM mudcat time but real time is 22.00hrs! Is this cos it's American? |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Session From: MuddleC Date: 29 Jun 05 - 06:14 PM here's to the 1st Oct fest... is it going to be as muddy/wet as Glastonbury?? |
Subject: RE: NW Leicestershire Session From: GUEST,MBSLynne Date: 30 Jun 05 - 05:11 PM I bloody hope not!!!! Yes Wendy, it's American time Love Lynne |
