OK, so when I was about ten (about twenty years ago) my mom had this tape of some really good folk stuff...kind of christian/socio political stuff...I can only remember snippets of two of the songs, but I'd love to be able to find this guy...he was a male singer songwriter....other than the lyrics I have no clue....so I'm throwing it out there in hopes SOMEBODY recognizes one of these...

Song 1
Something like:

And then there's another one, only know that it was something about having to "Learna a painful dance until someone learned the melody"

The first one carries the flavour of something written by Mary Chapin Carpenter. "Stones in [or on] the Road" maybe?

I know it's not MCC (Though I love you for mentioning her, I think I have all of her stuff memorized)....
