Yes, definitely, where else would I be. Though no longer on the (Executive) Committee my loyalties remain true to Chippenham FF. I have to report that I looked at the Westmead Campsite at lunchtime and all looks well - we've had a dry spell and the ground drains very well on that field. I know Bob and Gill have been working really hard (ridiculous hours!) lately to make sure all is in place, and I'm sure the rest of the Committee have as well. The weather has been cold here in Wiltshire just recently for the time of year, and previous years have led me to expect a sudden change and brilliant weather for the festival. We're going to have a wonderful time - hope as many 'Catters as possible can join us.

Hey - Eyelander and Miskin Man, you must tell us another time you're visiting Suffolk. We're not far away from the Cambs/Suffolk border and reasonably clued up on sessions and music there, and welcome visiting folkies. There's even a spare room if you need one!

(sorry, carry on with the the Chippenham thread...)

How can you sell day tickets when people don't know who's on which day?

Me
Still no wiser.
Wanna meet and say hello to Catters.
Some may be wearing badges then?
- sold by 'a' Badger.
I'd buy and wear one myself but...
Where will I find Badger and how will I know him/her?
Is he wearing a Catter's badge (and also one that says Badger?)

I'm just a 'bear of little brain' y'see....
Do help, nice people.

Hello Admiral (and Mrs of same ilk)

Like I said Elizabeth and I will be there and will drop by your sessions when we can but I am Stewarding this year and don't yet know when or where I will be working.

It wouldn't be Chippers for me if I missed the Rose & Crown lunchtime sings.

The Cause is way up the hill from the station (heading through the town centre) and is a church converted into a concert venue. Singarounds take place there amongst other things and a bar is available. The Rose and crown is on the way to the Cause and is just by the bus station. There is a map on the website.

if you PM Badger with your request he will furnish you with a badge with your name on it, Andy.......many Catters already have them and wear them so by their badge shall ye know them.

Paul, thanks.....I'm guessing the Rose and Crown is not tickets but perhaps the Cause is?

The Cause has ticketed events, the Rosie hosts some concerts amd workshops in the barn but the singaround in the lounge bar should be free. There is also morris dancing outside and lunchtime music sessions in the barn.

Has anybody got the graphics for the Mudcat Badge? If so, the stand which sells Festival sweatshirts and teeshirts on Island Park (where the displays are) usually has a badge machine where they make up badges to people's personal design. If we could make the artwork blanks available to them then 'Catters could write their Mudcat names onto the artwork and get their badge made up. I'm sure people could be put on their honour to pay their donation to Mudcat at the next Mudgather they attend.

Some people may have noticed that my lunchtime singarounds coincide with the Admiral's.... mine are in a non-smoking ticket venue, the Admiral's aren't. Both are well worth coming to! As will be the chorus session in the Cause Auditorium.

Looking forward to seeing you next weekend.

But why are your singaround and the Admiral's scheduled at the same time, and at lunchtime to boot, Kitty? And precious little at any other times.

Anyone might get the idea that singers are regarded at Chippenham as a subhuman species to be fobbed off with a grudging minimum provision.

Ms Lemon and I will be there, complete with lemonade trailer with shiny new magnetic logos.

We'd both certainly like to sing - together and separately - at the Cause and anywhere else we get the chance, but it'll have to be evenings only cos we're selling lemonade all day - I hope!!

Come on, weather, do the decent thing!

Hi Snuffy,

Kitty and Admiral's singarounds are at the same time because they cater for two different types of singer. Admiral's for those who want to belt out chorus songs in a smoky bar atmosphere, and Kitty's for those who prefer a quieter, smoke-free room in which to sing quieter songs. I don't think it's fair comment to say that Chippenham organisers are trying to fob people off with minimum provision. I think it's more a case of the organisers knowing that if singers are bent on singing then it will happen without them having to organise it, and that folk (singers)are happy finding their own spaces to sing in pubs, etc. The Cause was added as a super venue for singers a few years ago, with the auditorium for acoustic concerts and the back hall for anybody to go and sing who wanted to - both have excellent acoustics.

The events shown on the website are NOT comprehensive. I am hoping to get hold of a printed version of the full programme tonight and will hopefully be able to post more details here tomorrow.

Polly
