Subject: RE: Ethno England 2005 From: Linda Kelly Date: 24 May 05 - 04:14 PM yes- and what more could you ask - Tim Van Eycken and Jo Freya as artistic leaders and Selby, Graham Pirt and me on the breakfast run ! If anyone wants to come over and lend a hand and listen to some seriously good stuff drop us a line! we have people coming from all over-Bitish Embassies permitting and the music we record is archived and used in school programmes-it is a fantastic project.(I shall probably not make my 400 rice krispie cakes this year on the grounds they contravened the Human Rights act. |
Subject: RE: Ethno England 2005 From: BanjoRay Date: 31 May 05 - 06:30 PM What's with the age thing? Do they stop you getting in if you're over 25? Don't they realise the folk process is about young folk learning stuff off older folk? Cheers Old Curmudgeon |

Subject: RE: Ethno England 2005 From: GUEST Date: 01 Jun 05 - 06:06 AM It really is a shame that ageism is creeping into our music. We all have much to offer each other to keep the music learning process going. If we "as the over 25 age group" stopped younger musicians coming to sessions or music workshops to learn, we would be jumped on from a great height, and rightly so. I do applaud the idea behind the project but not the age restriction. This is something that maybe could be thought about for next year - an open age policy. Thanks |
