Subject: Review: BBC baggerup Coldplay From: Gray D Date: 25 Jun 05 - 10:13 PM Just tried to watch the live broadcast of the Coldplay concert from Glastonbury by the BBC - total b@lls up! For no apparent reason, other than to show some repeated footage, they switched from Beeb2 to Beeb3 15 minutes before the end . . . who then went to a commercial for their own programs, followed by an unnecessary news bulletin, followed by some dimwits trying to give their view of the day so far, followed by the last few minutes of the band. Bet their switchboard has been busy Never seen worse production or direction ever! Gray D |
Subject: RE: Review: BBC baggerup Coldplay From: Peter Kasin Date: 26 Jun 05 - 04:01 AM Sounds like the BBC version of "The Heidi Bowl." Aargh, too bad. Coldplay is an outstanding band. Chanteyranger |

Subject: RE: Review: BBC baggerup Coldplay From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 26 Jun 05 - 04:59 AM To be fair to the poor old BBC - they presented Glastonbury coverage on BBC3 from 7pm to 2am continuously with a choice of switching between three bands on at any one time. Later on BB2 and BBC 4 came on board with even more stuff. The same extensive choice is on tonight. I was sitting at home with my digibox remote happily switching between The Coral, Ash, etc etc all night Altight, I agree about the Coldplay coverage being bolloxed up but it was a small blip R |
Subject: RE: Review: BBC baggerup Coldplay From: Gray D Date: 26 Jun 05 - 05:29 AM But why switch from terrestrial to digital just before the big finalé? Lots of people don't have digital yet, so those watching will have missed the end. Was this just a mean spirited ploy to try and coerce a few hundred more people to go and buy a set top box? Or just inept programme planning? Whatever the reason, as my missus has just said, it is not very egalitarian. And why pointless channel ads and a news bulletin, for goodness' sake? Which production muppet thought that that would be a good idea? Also, given where we are discussing this matter, where were the digital options to see the other stages for the world music, folk and other acoustic stuff etc. ? Non-existent. Just NOT good enough. Gray D (paid for his licence, paid for his digi box, wants a good service) |
Subject: RE: Review: BBC baggerup Coldplay From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 26 Jun 05 - 06:37 AM Well, I suppose my point was that, pre digibox, we used to get a couple of hours late on BBC2 with no options at all. So things are better even if perfection is still to be achieved. Admittedly we still had John Peel then instead of the wittering ninnies that they use now - so maybe things are worse :-) R ps It was possible to get the odd world music thing with judicious use of the "what's on next" list. and "Athlete" were pretty quirky. |
Subject: RE: Review: BBC baggerup Coldplay From: LesB Date: 26 Jun 05 - 07:45 PM Every time I switched on it was Coldplay. I can't see what the fuss is about, I found them boreing, all the numbers sounded the same. White Stripes were good as were The Killers. Les |

Subject: RE: Review: BBC baggerup Coldplay From: Paco Rabanne Date: 27 Jun 05 - 04:32 AM The White Stripes kicked arse. Coldplay are so dull I couldn't watch them. |
