You beat me to it Carol - I really enjoyed the part of the weekend that I managed to get to. Luvly atmosphere, friendly folk (singers and audience and Dawn & Phil the licensees alike). You dun a grand job there Carol, thanks a million, and I've already put the dates into my diary for next year.

Yes,there will it's the 8th - 10th September and the 'singing'room will be more adaptable next year as Dawn is getting rid of the 'fixed' table and chairs.

Thanks everyone who came and supported us, especially those people who were brave enough to came for the whole weekend - I hope you enjoyed it - Saturday Evening was brill!!!

First session was last night Friday singaround et al went well

Sat and Sunday to go

go through Mexborough to Old Denaby then find Ferryboat lane, in OD private fishing club house

Sorry I won't be with you Carol but I have just started painting the lounge ceiling and after that must do the walls. The new furniture comes on Tuesday.

I keep telling myself that if I didn't go to so many folk festivals I could afford to have someone do the decorating for me.

Quite a few people have siad that they are intending to come.
Among the definates are Glyn, Alan and his grandson, Rhiannon and Mick, Janet and her husband, Ray, Edna and Dave, Sam and Ed, Mr and Mrs Addiey, Bill + 2, Audrey, Dave a gentleman from Scunthorpe who's name I have forgotten already!! plus others who are probably only coming for the Saturday.

So we should have a good mix of songs, tunes and stories.

From what I remember about last year, I don't remember anyone smoking there at all, so it couldn't have been bad. Incidentally I'm VERY sensitive to smoke, so if I didn't smell it must have been OK.

I don't know how I'm going 'to play' the smking isssue - yes it was sa smoke free zone last year except that the owners behind the bar smoked! And although there are new owners this year the lady, Dawn, smokes, again behind the bar section so I can hardly tell her she can't smoke.
I think that this year I'm going to ask people consider the singers and smoke outside if possible and see what happens - there is somewhere inside that they can go to smoke. Also the room is so large and airy that the smoke doesn't 'hang around' i.e.,I'hve never walked into the room and smelt smoke.

Sorry that I didn't reply sooner but it was my birthday - I was greeted this morning with 'Hello old woman' HUMPH

Anyhow hope to see everyone there and it will be a good weekend

Yep a singers' night format first 1hr 8pm to 9pm musicians session, bring yer paper and comb Carol

9pm on singaround format had a dozen or so singers last night of which half were musicians/instrumentalists

Not many other clubs open summer holidays
