Infidelity is still an interesting thread topic.

Before I was married I did not consider "infidelity" a crime or great indescretion, unless I got caught. Getting lucky while single was a seperate catagory from: cheating, going out for hamburger or any of the other hundreds of metaphors for "double dipping".
Since our wedding day however I have been 100% faithful which is probably a rare thing compared to society at large.

I was at a political meeting last night where a pastor gave his views on what it should mean when someone says that s/he is christian. He said that just like wearing a wedding band is saying that you are committed with integrity to a person/relationship/belief, it should mean that the listener can expect a certain course of thought and action from you. He said there should be no other reason for it. I'm not very religious by nature so I was a little leery of what the man might say- but I liked it.

Famously stoic, the English are renowned for their sense of fair play. If such an Olympic category existed, they'd win gold. As long as they're not represented by Jude Law. When a tabloid revealed his
affair with the family nanny, instead of taking it on the chin, he
tried to blame Miller for "not showing him enough devotion". This makes one suspect that his marriage to Sadie Frost broke up for religious reasons - he thought he was a God and, well, she just didn't. Law's self-centred outbursts confirm the man is totally wrapped up in himself. And it's such a teeny, weeny package. Hmmm. Freda, consider this. People reincarnate as male and female, at various times but in no particular sequence. One is as easy as the other. It's like changing the shirt you wear, from the point of view of the soul. Accordingly, one's status as either a male OR a female in THIS life is a very temporary matter, in my opinion. Ultimately the human soul is beyond gender, but when it's encased in a biological human body it has to select one or the other for the time being.

So...do all the virtuous women suddenly lose their steadfast qualities and become heartless sexual predators when they reincarnate as males? That would indeed be ironical. ;-) And one would wonder why it would be that way. How many feminists were men the last time around??? More than a few, I'd bet. They're mad at themselves.

I have (so far) personally never cheated on an existing relationship that I was having with a partner, and I'm male. I know other males who have never cheated on their partner too. I know females who have. Plenty. I also know that males are more likely to take advantage of momentary opportunities, but there is absolutely no sense in these diatribes that try to pit one gender against the other. It's foolish and doesn't help anyone.

Back to LH & Amos' comments, I believe the soul is without human attributes, and takes on a genetic pattern with each incarnation, like "clothes". With gender, like everything it is genetically determined. I saw this documentary earlier in the week - The Gender Puzzle.

It is about people whose chromosomes don't match the standard. Women with internal testes, Men who can't process testoosterone, and so are like women. Scientists are studying them as a way of discovering the genes that determine everybody's gender. It was fascinating, and interviewed people with Androgen Insensivity Syndrome amongst others.

But i would never give it to any new mother or mother to be, it's only for someone who will never have to go through it again.

She is a good writer, but a very astute person pointed out to me that Legge was using Law to make some sweeping judgements about men in general. I regretted appreciating her wit when it was ultimately used in disservice to humanity.

Absolutely; she has a razor tongue of the best sort. "Treats women as sequels, not equals" is classic stuff; "emotional depth of a mudpuddle" and "knight is shining Armani" are gems. PErsonally I don't see anything wrong with wanting a more intelligent bonk, but then neither do the more intelligent bonks. I'm with you on the corruption inherent in some kinds of leadership. I have known a few leaders who were exemplary and self-effacing, good leaders who care about the goals and members of their groups.

But by far, they were way on one end of the bell curve.

People like Jude Law just remind me that we need mandatory study in grade school that covers morality, ethics, leadership, followship, fellowship and the brotherhood of man.

I wouldn't give a high school diploma to anyone who couldn't write an essay on each topic without any references, 2,000 words minimum.

When moral codes elevate riches and conquest as primary virtues, the native insight which makes ethics possible gets trampled. Add television and Earth becomes a hell.

It is amazing, especially since it is volunteer-driven. Many volunteers even pay to participate, and often expose themselves in dangerous places just to continue delivering the Bud. We have one of the richest sub-water volunteer forces in the world, and we're proud of it.
