It's coming up the weekend of August 5 - 7 and looks great. I've ordered my tickets and plan to be there for the first time in about 15 years. With Utah Philips, Magpie, Jay Unger and Molly Mason, Johnny Doule and Liz Carrol, Trio A Quatre, Poor Old Horse and other wonderful local folks (don't miss Belatrix) It promises to be quite the weekend.

There is a website, and someone has posted a link in the Utah Philips in Vermont thread.

If folks are on their way through on Thursday or Friday, they can stop in at my take out joint and get dinner (good veg and not so veg food) Susan's Kitchen, 209 Barre St. Montpelier, 223-8646.

Looking forward to it in a big way.

Susan

We are going to miss it this year. Between moving and going to Whitby later in the month, it did not seem like a good idea this year. Enjoy it!

Folk-Legacy will be there, with help from Kendall and Jacqui, Julia Friend, and maybe our long-time helper, Karen K, although we're in competition with Augusta in her plans. Caroline and I will be at the booth most of the time, as well. Pray to whichever Gods you communicate with for good weather!

Will do. Just be prepared for HOT. It's been an unnatural summer up here, but then we all know that there's no such thing as global warming.

I'll be there and if it's hot there's a big lake called Champlain with my name on it.

My first time there and I am really looking forward to meeting Utah -I've heard so much about him from Kendall. His CD, Starlight on the Rails, is amazing!

I also want to see Jay Unger and I'm sure that there will be many other acts that wil be worth looking in on.

As indicated on the other thread, we will miss it even though it's within spitting distance of us as festivals go.

Kris will be in La Belle France drinking too much wine and eating cheese that smells like peoples' feet (any other old National Lampoon readers here?), and I'll be in Bozeman, MT, drinking too much Pabst Blue Ribbon and eating Elk meat, as one should do in a "red state."

Breaks of the game.

Peter.

If you plan on cooling your hot feet at the Lake, look out for biting flies throughout the park.

I'll be MCing the Friday night mainstage concert at Champlain Valley and on Saturday afternoon I'll be hosting a songwriters' workshop with Utah Phillips, Kim & Reggie Harris, Magpie, Pete Sutherland and Larry Penn.

This will be the sixth annual edition of this songwriters' workshop. I conceived the workshop in 2000 as a way to really look at the creative process and the consequences (how songs effect people when they're out in the world) of songwriting. In past years, we've had some wonderfully insightful sessions with the likes of Tom Paxton, Tom Russell, Bill Staines, Bob Franke, Anne Hills, Steve Gillette, Michael Smith and others. I'm looking forward to this year's workshop with the very fine writers involved.

Please say hi if you're at the festival.

Mike Regenstreif

Probably not going to make it up until Saturday, but the lineup in your workshop sounds great Mike.

Looking forward to it. What is the camping situation anyway? Anyone know what the camping without amenities is all about?

Susan

The camping is a field with no facilities.

I wish -- maybe next year. I used to go regularly before they moved out of the park. Does anyone remember Robert J. Lurtsema's monoluge with the refrain "Your monkey's got his balls in my martini"? (when he was MC there)

I'll get there Saturday, and will be risking the field with nothing in it camping.

The camping is not too bad, just very basic. We camped the last two years. It is a field that is not a regular campground, just used for this. They mow the field and bring in some port-a-johns and a water truck.

Ah, relieved to hear about the port-a-johns and water. Tent's all packed, should hit there mid afternoon tomorrow.
