Subject: BS: Second best lyrics site? From: just john Date: 04 Aug 05 - 01:57 PM When I search for pop lyrics on the web, I find a lot of sites with lots and lots of web trash, like pop-ups, adware, etc. Yeah, I know one big answer is to ditch this IE browser, but it's what they give me here at work and I'm stuck with it. So, starting from the premise that the DT database might count as the BEST lyrics site, what would you call the SECOND best one out there? It's a trade-off between A) the amount of songs on the site plus the accuracy of its lyrics and B) the amount of annoying web crap it throws at the user. Any opinions or horror stories? |

Subject: RE: BS: Second best lyrics site? From: Bill D Date: 04 Aug 05 - 02:20 PM I'm not sure what you mean by Mudcat being 'best' and also saying you are looking for 'pop' lyrics. There are several VERY good traditional lyrics sites, including http://www.contemplator.com/folk.html. For real 'pop' lyrics, you'd best look at places like http://www.songtext.net/ |
Subject: RE: BS: Second best lyrics site? From: just john Date: 04 Aug 05 - 02:22 PM Bill D -- I assume the songtext.net ref was intended as a joke? Or were you just impressed that their pop-ups were in German? |
Subject: RE: BS: Second best lyrics site? From: Joe Offer Date: 04 Aug 05 - 05:00 PM I'm using Moxzilla Firefox, and I guess my popup controls must work just fine - I don't get popups anywhere. I have a list of other lyrics sites in the first message of the FAQ. All of them have worked quite well for me in the past, and I think they're all still working:
And a personal favorite is http://www.folkinfo.org/ |

Subject: RE: BS: Second best lyrics site? From: Bill D Date: 04 Aug 05 - 06:57 PM joke? No...I am aware it's a German site, but if you simply look, you find many references to English songs. The main point was, its focus is on pop songs. Perhaps there are better examples...but... |

Subject: RE: Second best lyrics site? From: GEST Date: 08 Aug 05 - 10:32 AM It is nothing near the many great lyrics sites listed previously, but I have been helplessly addicted to GEST Songs Of Newfoundand And Labrador for the last three years. In fact, I'm thinking of entering a 12-step program for archivists. §;-] |
