Hello to North Yorkshire!
Like last year Sandy & I are intending to go to both great festivals, touring the North Yorkshire Moors & Coast area in our campervan in between the two festivals. And, like last year, we are hoping to have a great time! [I sing and play the English concertina and Sandy plays the mandoline.]
On the advice of The Beast of Farlington, padgett, el ted, Mrs Holroyd & others, we went to:-
The First In, Last Out" in Fishburn Park, Whitby on the Tuesday and
The Blacksmiths Arms at Farlington on the Wednesday.
Will there be similar sessions this year? Any other ideas anyone? What about the Monday? Will there be a session in Whitby on the Thursday before the festival officially starts? [I have already looked in the Yorkshire Folk Arts: regional directory.]
"I like to rise when the sun she rises!"
Alan

I dont have a current Folk Roundabout for the North East, however according to Tykes' News the following are possibilities, note many clubs are closed for the summer holidays:

Thursday Aug 18th Kieron Means and Sara Grey; Black Swan ~ York

Wednesay August 17th Singers night; Otley Folk Club ~ Otley West Yorks

Fridays August 19th Robin Hoods Bay Folk Club ~ RHB near Whitby, check out 01947 880660 or 880801

Tuesday August 16th Skipton Folk Club over to the West of Yorkshire
says Singers' Night 'we never close'

Hi Alan and Sandy

We are no longer at the Blacksmiths Arms but have moved to the Thompsons Arms, Flaxton which is between Sheriff Hutton and Flaxton.

More details as the Guest pointed out at Music in N Yorks thread or there is a map here - the pub is close to the railway crossing.

Squeezebox welcome and get Sandy to come and play her mandolin.

Another pub in the middle of nowhere - acoustics not as good as Farlington but good atmosphere and beer is reasonable (and reasonably priced)

May be quite busy. Start about 8.30 till whenever.

Thanks for the suggestions, aelfleda, Nick & R. Padgett.
I have avoided a wasted trip to Farlington!
Any more ideas for Monday & Thursday?
