Cliff Aungier Albums

Hi all
I've been playing and enjoying the recent CD re-issue of Lady From Baltimore by Cliff Aungier.. I also have the album he made with Royd Rivers in the mid 60s and the Full Moon album he made in the 80s with Ralph Mc, etc.

Did he make any more albums?

there's an amazing solo acoustic track on the 'dungeon folk' lp from '69, 'nicolette'- possibly the rawest & most sublime acoustic guitar track i've ever heard!

Well, I have "Full Moon" and "Alex Campbell & his Friends" from 1967, where Cliff sings/plays Chilly Winds, Blue sleeves (Greensleeves) and Dink's Song. According to Horst Pohles Folk Record Source Book there are no more records as already mentioned. Be he took part in Loren Auerbach, Playing the Game, Christabel CRL 002, 1985 and on a Gerry Lockran LP from 1972, it's called "Wun", Polydor 2383 122. Hope this helps.

Dungeon Folk was recorded in the Dungeon Folk Club, which was in the basement of The Copper PH in Tower Bridge Road. It was started, I think, by Ian Grant, producer of Country Meets Folk, and Cliff Aungier. I remember a performance by Ron Geesin in there, and it was unforgettable. Ron used to 'undress' the piane. This meant his taking off the front, so he could access the hammers, and the strings. He would hit the strings, and perform all sorts of percussive bits, while playing. This particular evening, he jumped up from the piano, dashed down into the lower part of the dungeoon, and started banging the floor with a pot lid [I think]. It was amazing stuff, and I have never seen another performer quite like Ron.
There was also a nice girl who took the money on the door, and did an occasional floor spot. I have forgotten her name, but I do remember she used to sing a beautiful version of, The Curragh of Kildare.
I also used to go to the Half Moon in Putney, where Cliff, along with Royd Rivers, Lisa Turner, and Gerry Lockran, played every week.
Saw many memeorable performances there too, and especially remember Jo Anne Kelly.

Yes, the Dungeon Club was the joint effort of Ian Grant and Cliff Aungier. I remember the girl on the door too. I'm trying to remember her name. I think she sang at the Half Moon as well. Going back to the subject of Cliff's albums, somewhere I've got an old album of Gerry Lockran with Cliff Playing on it - Royd Rivers and I think, Ian McCann and Dave Travis are on it too I'll have to dig it out and check that.
