Just to let our British friends know that Jeff Warner will be appearing at festivals and clubs in E th UK for the next three weeks. You can find out where he will be performing by going to his
website.

If you've never had the pleasure of meeting Jeff or hearing him perform, do go out of your way to do so. And if you want an idea of what you'll be hearing, listen here.

And, in theory at least, he should be well armed with a supply of his brand new CD.

Pleas say "hello" to Jeff when you see him - Tom

Perhaps one of you could buy Tom or I a CD, making sure to tell Jeff where they're being sent. I will respond to the first CD in kind.

Enjoy him though - he's well worth seeing!

Excellent link, Curmudgeon - what a great guy. Pity you can't see what he's doing with the bones that creases everyone up! I'm certainly going to try to get to see him - if only to drool over his Frank Proffitt banjo.

I should warn prospective listener s to the second link I posted, that the radio broadcast is nearly an hour long. Its worth the time because in addition to hearing Jeff, you'll also get to hear a bit of Barbara Benn, and exceptionally fine singer who is not heard often enough - Tom

Tom, how nice of you to put the word out this way!
I've gotten a sneak preview of the CD, and I can tell folks
it's well worth every penny. Not only Jeff, but harmonies
from Bruce M, Barbara B, and fabulous backup work from
Rodney Miller (fiddle), Dave Surette (mandolin), and
Jacqueline Schwab (piano).

Hey, friends on the other side of the pond -
let us know how Jeff's doing. If you're up for it,
give him surprise hugs from us. - Pamela

Y'all say hello to JF for me (first letters of his two first names caused him to be call Jeff), and ask him about an observation of his when he was about seven years old, in Greenwich Village, NYC, "Oh gee, Mom, smell that great city air!"

That's just to prove how long I've known him...and he did grow up to be a grand singer and collector, as Frank Warner's son should. I honor him for paying respect to his father and at the same time walking his own road.

For those of us on the Pacific Coast of the US, Jeff Warner is part of this year's Sea Music Concert Series at Hyde Street Pier in San Francisco. His concert is Friday, December 9th, 8 pm. Other performers in the series are Richard Grainger and Gordon Bok.

Just back from Maidenhead and a cracking evening with Jeff - And you lucky people at Wadebridge are in for a treat ! Jeff has , on loan form Peter Kennedy , THE Frank Proffitt banjo , signed by Burl Ives and Pete Seeger and Lord knows who else . A bit of real Folk History !! AND a fascinating instrument as well .

Are you sure that's not the Frank Warner banjo? And where did Peter Kennedy get a Frank Profitt banjo? Just wondering...

Jeff's brother Gerrett has a bunch of fretless banjos on his living room wall. Probably Frank's is one of them. I doubt that Jeff would try to take such a rare instrument abroad.

On the other hand, Frank Profitt did make banjos and there's no reason why one couldn't have ended up in the hands of such an eminent collector as Peter Kennedy.

And it makes sense that Jeff would make use of a generously loaned banjo that didn't have to risk the perils of sir travel.

I thought Gerrett only had two banjos on his wall. Frank's definitely is one of them. Possible both were Frank's.

Jeff did NOT want to risk HIS Proffitt on an aircraft , but has the loan of Peter Kennedy's ! Just for the Wadebridge festival , i think . Never mind all you people who WONT get to see it !!

From what Jeff said in his introduction the banjo was presented to Peter Kennedy by Frank Proffit (at one of the American folk weeks I think).
I would also say that hearing Jeff last night was a real treat and his bringing along and playing the Proffit banjo just a magic moment
see him if you can
