This is a long shot, but when I was at primary school in Ewhurst in Surrey in the mid sixties (I would guess the relevant year to be 1966) we had a young teacher for about a month who was doing her teaching practice prior to graduating. I can't remember her name and have only a vague impression of a slim lady with long dark hair, but what I can clearly remember is that she taught the class to sing two songs - 'Jug of Punch' and 'When I first came to this Land'. She had a lovely singing voice and played the guitar and I would love to thank her for her inspiration - she has given me a life long love of folk music.

As you said ... "this is a long shot!" But let me tell you about "long shots" and MudCat. We've been re-connected with a long lost friend because of MC. I've also found out what happened to another long lost friend friend.

So ... be of strong hope ... stanger things have happened! CHEERS, Bob(deckman)Nelson

Put

Ewhurst, Surrey, Primary Schools

in Google. You may have some success by contacting the schools there.

Second place to try is the Teachers' Association in England. I don't know what it's called or if there are many, but they might help you in your search.

Best of luck in your 'mission'.

Friends Reunited also includes teachers from listed schools. Some of the schools have message boards on the site.

The only person I can think of that fits the description is Hazel King but I'm pretty sure she was at Wimbledon Art College then and not doing teacher training, and it may just be too early for her. Can link you to some pictures if you want.

Does any one else automatically press enter to go from their name to the message box and find they've sent a blank message?

Thank you for your suggestions. I've tried Friends Reunited but there is no helpful info on my school's site. Thank you for your offer, Giok, of a connection to photos of Hazel King. I don't recognise the name, but then I'm not expecting to (I'd didn't recognise more than one or two of my fellow pupils when I was on FR!)and as I was only about 6, I'm don't think a photo would help. But I may be wrong on the year. perhaps '67 or '68 are not unlikely.

Many thanks,

helen
