Subject: RE: Gigs and sessions in Australia From: Alaska Mike Date: 17 Sep 05 - 11:50 AM I too am in the early stages of planning a trip down under. We are thinking of coming for a visit in late 2007. Thanks for the links freda, I'm sure they will provide insights. If you know of any festivals or folk clubs that might be interested in having my airconditioned songs added to their venues, please let me know. Looking forward to meeting some of my Aussie friends when we finally get there. Mike |

Subject: RE: Gigs and sessions in Australia From: Joybell Date: 18 Sep 05 - 04:35 AM Well we are in the middle of nowhere West of Melbourne about a 4 hour drive. We love musical visitors. Lots of interesting scenery and all. We're midway between the shipwreck coast and not-big but rugged and beautiful mountains. There's a bed waiting here. Cheers, Joy |
Subject: RE: Gigs and sessions in Australia From: hilda fish Date: 18 Sep 05 - 08:08 AM Freda's post pretty well covers most things but stay in touch as things will also be happening closer to the time of your arrival and during your time here. There will be many sessions, often arranged fairly late in the day, that you would probably enjoy. Safe travelling. |
Subject: RE: Gigs and sessions in Australia From: Charley Noble Date: 18 Sep 05 - 08:31 PM It can be a pretty scary experience exploring the folk music community in Australia. They've been known to drag visitors up in front of an attentive audience at various community halls and force them to sing, stuff them full of grilled platypus and wombat at their imfamous BBQ's, and shanghai them aboard tall ships to lead sea shanties. There is no end to the torture they may inflict. Then there's the beer and other fermented fluids they ply you with. Strangers, heed my warning and steer well clear of that fatal shore! Cheerily, Charley Noble, who's also considering a revisit in 2007 |
