After this year's disappointment is there any truth in the rumour that The Wurzels are headlining the 2006 Sidmouth Folk Week?

They'd be certain to sell-out the Ham Marquee and would knock spots off the likes of Kat Rusby and Show of Hands.

Dunno.   Kate's concert at Sidmouth a few years ago was great. Especially her dry sense of humor.

I'd sure like to see the Wurzels though. (Also). Don't they do "I Got A Brand New Combine Harvester"?

Yes. They're still a good fun band with something of a cult following.

I guess they were not a big enough attraction for the Sidmouth International Festival up to 2004 but now that Sidmouth has down-sized and is just a small town Folk Week they'd be worth considering.

"After this year's disappointment is there any truth in the rumour that The Wurzels are headlining the 2006 Sidmouth Folk Week?"

The answer is STILL No....

I have so many things crossed this time as I press 'Submit Message'...everyone hold their breath.......

'Way over here in Missouri (middle of the USA) is a lonesome Wurzels fan---me! I play some of their stuff on my radio show once in a while. Also, I play Shag Connors and the Carrot Crunchers. I like both groups very much. Too bad Adge and Shag are both no longer with us.

Yay!!!!!! Well done you El Greko!! WhooooHoooo! Big kisses all round next year then! ;0) xxx

Colyn...I'll try to surface a bit more next year..You'll definitely find me at the George Papavgeris gig though!!

Sorry I missed so many people. I would have been 'even briefer' too Colyn, if only I'd got my post right the first time round! Kept cutting and pasting and it kept disappearing. Should have seen the look of disbelief on my face every time it happened!

Jim....Shag Connors and The Carrot Crunchers....Oh Boy! What a GREAT name...that's made me smile! ;0)

the wifes birthday treat this year is a Wurzels gig !!!

one of my earliest childhood memories is sitting in front of the huge valve radiogram
listening to Adge indoctinating me in the joys of cider walloping..

when i was 13 and buying alice cooper and bowie LPs..
my dad still persuaded me sit with him on saturday afternoons
listening to Adge Cutler records and sipping local farmhouse scrumpy !

then when i was a student..
one of my socialist worker mates
was keen to share his enthusiasm for Adge Cutlers
early lefty activism..

wish i could remember now what Adge was involved in before his brief
showbiz mega stardom..

lets be having a google..

Hooray for Big Jim and punkfolkrocker.

See. If Sidmouth Folk Week bookers took any notice of mudcat posts they'd realise just what huge stars The Wurzels still are with a massive worldwide cult following and fanbase.

Book them now. Save your Folk Week. Bring some style and class back to Sidmouth.

Sidmouth needs The Wurzels.

What happened to the Dung Brothers from Exeter?

I melted their spatula

The Dung Brothers moved from Exeter and now reside in Sidmouth all year round.

They were last seen cooking Lizzie's lentils on toast... without a spatula.
