I'm sure the rookery will do his permathread stuff.

I shall be there. A ruddy long way to go, mind. Takes me over seven minutes to walk all the way!

Tomorrow is the penultimate club night of the year, at the Wheatsheaf. You should be there. I probably will be! It's been a good year for the club!

Double bah and crinkly chips in fact.

Onwards and downwards.

A pity because tonight's raffle is a Collings D2H. The guitar a HD28V should have been 😇

I'll probably go straight from work which means the guitar sitting in my boot all day. That'll be the plastic one then.

Is thy going to the Martin Simpson gig Friday BWM? The good news is Martin plus Bob Chiswick opening for him. The bad news is that as punters arrive they are being encouraged to go upstairs to congregate whilst sound checks take place, where The Rookery and I have been set on to play background music. I am trying to get his banjo written out of the contract as I type. The better news is that Sean Hutch is playing with us.

The giddy depths of Donny eh?

Confined to Barracks again, while The Memsahib wines and dines and savours the delights of the fleshpots of the capital.

Bah. In fact double-bah! 😡

I might be a little late myself. Leaving Eckythump at 6ish, 40 mile journey home, eat, slay a few dragons and get to The Red Lion.

Ruddy good night last week by the way. Not too many of us but we made enough noise to think otherwise. Irish pipes have that effect...

The absence of the rookery at Donny last night was noted. Banjo playing was in evidence via BanjoyRay. You possibly heard him whilst on the A1.

No Rookery tomorrow night? Wouldn't it be ironic if I took a banjo? (I keep one for research purposes you understand.)

Recaptured youth? That piston head baby can capture anything caught in its crosshairs now I've run it in..   Yet oddly it still can't get a banjo case in it.

Any road.

Tomorrow

Wheatsheaf Belton
8.30pm
Password for entry is "and one under the bar for Ian"

Free beer
Raffle to win a guitar that has been behind the bar for the past few months.
Choice of M&M colours in your dressing room

Well I missed the Roots Strummers, last night by being unavoidable detained by pleasure and pxxxxng down rain on my way back from Scotland, and I won't be at the Wheatsheaf tomorrow because of a babysitting appointment for a delightful young lady. Don't let it stop you though! All of you! See you next week at the Red Lion!
BTW- I wouldn't let my banjo near muskets new car! It used to try to jump out of the last one, and now he's trying to recapture his youth, who knows what might happen!

HSBC have written to me regarding the club bank account. They are not happy that it is now dormant, and want to close the account if we don't make use of it.I suppose this is not unreasonable, because it will be costing them something to operate the account and send me a statement each month. I spoke to a young lady at HSBC on the phone on Friday, and was interrogated regarding why we were not paying money in and out. I persuaded her to leave the account in operation for the present, but only until 22nd May 2016, at which date it would have to be reviewed again if we still have not used it. Do we need a bank account now?
If anyone has ideas for spending £89.94, please discuss. Ideas include a memorial to Eric, a memorial concert, local charity donation, Epworth Music Day, Christmas Party, posters advertising the club, newspaper adverts for the club, ....etc.
It was a very good night last week, I hope to come back again, but I am hopeless at late nights, five days later I am still falling asleep listening to "Look North" on TV at 6.30pm!

Yeah, brilliant night. Amazing the tone Thomas got out of that cheap plywood guitar...

Our international appeal knows no bounds eh?

Nice to see Squeezebox John. That's twice in a week we have been playing together despite not having seen each other for well over a year before last Thursday.

Any road, don't forget Wheatsheaf at Belton next Wednesday. The rookery and I will be at Donny Strummers (Ukranian Club, Doncaster) next Monday if anyone wants to join us. Bob Chiswick runs a cracking club. What I haven't told the rookery yet is that my new pap pap was bought on the basis that you can't fit banjo cases in it. Weird layout I know, but what can you do? You can get a couple of guitars in the boot easily but not a banjo case apparently. It says so in the handbook.

Another busy night at the Folk Club, with the welcome return of Squeezebox John, and talented newcomers, Martin, Jessie, Mike and his wife who's name has escaped me (nothing to do with the beer)and Anna to help brother Ian out with excellent harmonies. Together with regulars Goff, Danny, Richard, Musket and myself and a Czech visitor Thomas, we had a great night! Really we did! You should have been there!

Sat in the car, early for an appointment so bored enough to log onto Mudcat the first time in donkeys.

I'll be there. A little older, little wiser and amazing stunts with a grapefruit.

Assuming, that is, the baggage handlers don't bugger up my guitars at Sandtoft International Airport.

Great to see Jim and Dave appearing and we hope to see a lot more of them! We even played some folk music for Jim this week so he stayed till the end!

'Twas a good night! Just 7 of us but we managed to make ourselves heard! In fact the pool team were very quiet and even quiet songs were audible. Albert may have made a sale to a GAS sufferer who may be getting into Acoustics to go with his 15 electrics!
There was more joining in than normal and it was good fun.

Last weeks jamboree was exceptionally good even without the assistance of Musket, and Albert, who both had fair excuses! We filled the room up and blues, rock, and folk flew around, to the appreciation of a few regulars and a few new faces. Everybody did well and we all enjoyed the evening. Memo to self- drink less beer if you are babysitting the next morning!

Last week wqs another of our successes, about 14 merry, (or in my case sober) souls gathered and played happy cheerful music all night .....except for all the folk songs about death and destruction, and violence and unrequited lust! This week barring catastrophe we shall be attempting something similar at the Wheatsheaf! Do come and join us!

After a slow start last weeks at the Wheatsheaf was a success!
At ten to nine, Me and my friend Tony were chatting to Eric and discussing whether to play for a bit or just go home, then Jill came, then Nigel and a couple of spectators, then Ian, and we had a lovely singaround and chorus session.
This weeks do is at the Red Lion! Hope you can make it Backwoodsman!
