Well up to now I'd have said the two June sessions where we sang outside were the best, but last night was really good. More musicians and instruments than we've ever had, with a scattering of good singing too. Thanks to everyone who came and we hope to see you again next time, which will be the Yuletide session on December 21st. On top of the great music last night, the pub actually had a choice of TWO good ciders!!!! Must be almost unique amongst Midlands village pubs.

Thursday Quarter session was great fun - Only marred by me sideswiping a 44 ton truck on Friday morning and writing off ANOTHER car !!

I was thinking of Fortunato coming over here, not the other way round. I don't have any pennies to save at the moment. Unemployment benefits don't really allow one to zoom off to the states very often.

The next quarter session will be held in the Turk's Head in Donisthorpe on Thursday 21st December at 8.00. A good time to get out your Christmas songs and tunes I should think!

I have to warn you that Paul, the landlord has stopped keeping Old Rosie and Westons organic because they have become too expensive. I'll see if he can get a small quantity in for the session if anyone else is interested in helping me drink it?

Oh dear...the weather's not looking too good this end! It's thick fog and has been like it for two days. While I'm really looking forward to a good sing and jovial company, I will understand if all you who come from a long distance can't make it due to the weather. I'd rather have you safe and absent than otherwise. Do take care!

Actually, I think the solstice is tomorrow Paul...it varies a day or two from one year to the next. Definitely still a solstice sing though. Yuletide was always a solstice celebration originally and covered a week. As far as we are concerned, the solstice is the real start of our Yuletide celebrations.

We missed you Paul, but I'm glad you are safe. Don't blame you for not risking the weather...I was quite worried about everyone driving here.

I hadn't actually expected many people in view of the horrible conditions, but in the event, I think we had more people than we've ever had!

As usual It was a really great session with a good variety of singers and musicians, and once again, totally different from all the sessions which have gone before. Just by the way, it was actually our second anniversary.

I do wish people would stop apologising..."I'm sorry, this isn't really folk". I don't give a bu**er what it is as long as it's music and you are playing and singing it yourself. After all, it's never been called a folk session has it? We had something from "Smells like teen spirit" by Nirvana. We had "Sweet child of mine".We also had some trad and modern 'folk' tunes and songs. It was all great.

See you in March...round about the equinox probably

Hello again!!! The next Donisthorpe session will be held on Thursday March 22nd at the Turk's Head in Donisthorpe at 8pm. We now seem to have a small core of regulars and it would be nice to see some of the other people we've had over the last couple of years and also some new ones.So....who's up for it? With any luck the weather will be better than it was for the last one! And we can celebrate the vernal equinox at the same time!
