Found this,
I had a little candy store,
    Business was so bad,
I asked mine mama what to do,
    This is what she said.
    Take a little gasoline,
    Put it on the floor.
    Take a match,
    Give a scratch,
    Poof, no candy store.

I learned it back in the 1950's at U-Conn folk song club.

sung to the tune of Hatikva, the Israeli national anthem, so I'd guess this falls into the anti-semitic genre'. Something about it makes me think it was written by someone jewish, so it's like using the N word in rap.   The chorus I've heard [ from Danny Kornbloom of
Catskill Mts NY ] runs:

Oy vey iz mere, no more candy store
Oy vey iz mere, boint it to da floor
Took out an insurance policy
Made my wife beneficiary
Bought a house in Miami
No more candy store

Riggy

My mom just started singing this in the middle of a discussion about baseball and national anthems. She's about to turn 90. She was very excited to see that her song was Googleable. Thank you, Mudcat--especially for pointing out that "bad" rhymes with "said" in fake Yiddish. Mom sings it straight, so it never rhymed.

I'm sure I've seen another, longer thread about this song elsewhere on this site. Maybe the two could be combined, or at any rate linked to each other.

Next time we see Riggy at the Mudcat Singaround, we need to ask him to sing this.

Dad used to sing these lyrics when the Israeli national anthem played.

As a very young child my Mom would sing this to me. Here are the lyrics that she would sing. "Isaac had a candy store business was so poor he took a match and gave a scratch no more candy store"

Hm. Is it coincidence that:
1. Isaac Asimov's parents ran a candy store
2. They were very poor
3. They were Jewish

Their candy store did not burn down -- but IIRC Judah Asimov (Isaac's father) retired to Florida. (I won't swear to that last point, which is why I didn't number it.)

My first dormitory at College had been majority Hispanic. I hadn't known many Hispanics. One of the upperclassmen there, a proud well-built guy, told me that sometimes people said things to him that he didn't know whether they were being funny or over-the-line prejudicial. His rule: "If they're smiling, they're funny, or TRYING to be funny. If they're not smiling, they're insulting your race."

And of course, there's the legendary quote from Owen Wister's The Virginian
"When you call me that, SMILE!"
