First of all...I want to say a big 'thanks' for your help in getting the Sheet Music to me for Maiden's Prayer. Thanks so much! Today I am looking for sheet music for St. John River Waltz... I believe it to be a Canadian tune - I had expected to find it in my Don Messar or Ned Landry books...but it's not there. Any help would be appreciated :) email address slingerlandwilson@yahoo.ca |

Subject: RE: St. John River Waltz Sheet Music From: Anglogeezer Date: 03 Dec 05 - 04:22 PM What further information do you have?? Is it a song or tune?? Who has played it?? The more you tell us the more we can help. There is a song "Canadian River Waltz" at www.cowboylyrics.com/tabs/hampton-r-w/canadian-river-waltz-5898.html Otherwise there are quite a few St Johns Rivers on the American continent. Jake |
Subject: RE: St. John River Waltz Sheet Music From: GUEST,Gladys Date: 05 Dec 05 - 11:21 PM Hello again... The Waltz I was looking for... The Saint John River Waltz When I heard it.... it was being played by a fiddler from Province of New Brunswick, in Canada.. so I take it that the River in the title refers to the Saint John River that passes through this Canadian province. Any idea where I might come upon it? :) Gladys |
Subject: RE: St. John River Waltz Sheet Music From: GUEST,Bardford Date: 06 Dec 05 - 12:46 AM Not the exact tune title, but found this citation at the Fiddler's Companion : RIVER JOHN SUNSET WALTZ. Canadian, Waltz. Canada, Prince Edward Island. D Major. Standard. AABB. Composed by Nova Scotia musician Florence Killen, the tune was popularized by New Brunswick fiddler Ivan Hicks. Central New York fiddler Chad Miller reports that the tune has become somewhat of a 'standard' in his region, learned from visiting Canadian fiddlers. Source for notated version: Archie Stewart (b. 1917, Milltown Cross, South Kings County, Prince Edward Island) [Perlman]. Perlman (The Fiddle Music of Prince Edward Island), 1996; pg. 172. Subject: RE: St. John River Waltz Sheet Music From: Susan A-R Date: 15 Dec 05 - 10:52 PM A friend was just trying to play this in jam session last week. If it really doesn't come back to her, I'll look this up. Had never heard of the tune until last week. I love the way this site works. |
Subject: RE: St. John River Waltz Sheet Music From: JohnInKansas Date: 16 Dec 05 - 06:56 AM The link by GUEST,Bardford 06 Dec 05 - 12:46 AM to "the dots" got me a "Page Revised December 16, 2005, all tabs removed for reorganization, try again later." "Later" not defined. Link by Stewart 15 Dec 05 - 02:39 PM for the mp3 failed when I tried to just click, but a right click and "save target" on the link got a nice mp3 fragment. The mp3 sounds like I'll have to try the alltabs link again - whenever later comes. John |
