Subject: RE: BBC2 Tonight 12.20 Carthy,Bragg,Tunstall From: s6k Date: 11 Dec 05 - 04:35 AM i cant understand why most of the performers sang one (sometimes more!) of their OWN songs!!! Its supposed to be a Dylan tribute concert, not a showcase!!!! |
Subject: RE: BBC2 Tonight 12.20 Carthy,Bragg,Tunstall From: fiddler Date: 12 Dec 05 - 02:51 AM I think Mr C was not at his best. Too musch beer at Whitby possibly making Scarborough Difficult. |
Subject: RE: BBC2 Tonight 12.20 Carthy,Bragg,Tunstall From: breezy Date: 12 Dec 05 - 05:00 AM I say sok, it was only M C o b e. singing Scarboro Fair that was not a Dylan song though it was in part pnicked for Girl of the North Country.Thats hardly 'most' |
Subject: RE: BBC2 Tonight 12.20 Carthy,Bragg,Tunstall From: GUEST Date: 12 Dec 05 - 01:37 PM This was an edited version of the Barbican of a few weeks ago. Carthy's voice is gone, Bragg never had one. The young American kid was a disgrace, Roy Harper was worse. That only left the girl and Odetta who were excellent. What a shambles of a shower of crawlers using Dylan to show off their own lack of talent. |

Subject: RE: BBC2 Tonight 12.20 Carthy,Bragg,Tunstall From: s6k Date: 12 Dec 05 - 03:19 PM Ahh breezy, I just looked, it was only an hour... the one I saw was the full 2 hr thing on BBC4, wish I'd taped this one now! Yeah, on the full one, the young American kid did a not-bad version of "To Ramona" but then bored me with 2 of his own songs. Actually, I liked Martin Carthy, even though his voice wasn't at its best, I still liked the performance of "Hattie Carroll" and I even liked Scarborough Fair, had no objection to that seeing as Dylan borrowed the lyrics for Girl from the north country but it was the other people doing their own songs that got up my nose! it made it not so much a Dylan tribute concert, more a showcase, with people sometimes doing Dylan songs. PAH!! but I completely agree with KT Tunstall - she was brilliant, and also ONLY DID DYLAN SONGS... which is what everyone should have done for gods sake!!! KT Tunstall is indeed a very talented artist. |

Subject: RE: BBC2 Tonight 12.20 Carthy,Bragg,Tunstall From: rhyzla Date: 13 Dec 05 - 10:50 AM I only saw the full 2 hour programme, and agree that KT Tunstall was excellent - made to look even better by the dross that preceded her! Have bought KT's CD on strength of her performance - it is very good in my opinion. |
